All clothes shown in this book are designed to fit an 11 ½ inch girl fashion doll and a 12 inch boy fashion doll.
NOTE: BUTTONHOLES are not necessary to knitted in the garments since all buttons are so small they can be buttoned easily through the stitches.
ABBREVIATIONS FOR INSTRUCTIONS
K – Knit
P – Purl
ch. – Chain
beg. – Beginning
s.c. – Single Crochet
stock. st. – Stockinette St. (K 1 row, P 1 row).
sp. – Space
sl. st. – Slip St.
st. – Stitch
sts. – Stitches
garter st. – K every row.
p.s.s.o. – Pass the slipped st. over the K st.
sp – Space
incl. – Inclusive
tog. – K or P 2 sts. tog.
decr. – Decrease (take 2 stitches and work off as one)
incr. – Increase (add 1 stitch)
inch – Inches
y.o. – Yarn Over
* (asterisk) – When this * appears, continue working until instructions refer you back to this symbol.
Even means that it must be worked without increasing or decreasing.
Pull sts. tog. – Break your yarn and leave about 10 inches. Thread a tapestry needle and pull this needle through the remaining sts.
Knitting Patterns
BACK:
Cast on 16 (18) sts. with No. 5 needles and work in stock. st. for 2 ¼ (2 ¾) inch. Slip a marker to each end of needle to mark armhole. Work even for 1 inch above markers. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 (3) sts., on rem. 12 (12) sts. work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for Turtleneck for 8 (10) rows. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. (More)

Evening Gown and Evening Jacket
GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch
Starting at bottom of skirt cast on 65 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in seed st. for 3 rows. Change to stock. st. and incr. 1 st. at end of last row. Work even until piece measures 3 ½ inch. Next row: K3tog. across row. (22 sts.) Work even for 7 rows. (More and Evening Jacket)
COAT:
Starting on bottom of back cast on 16 sts. with No. 6 needles. Work in stock. st. for 2 rows. P 1 row on right side for hemline. Cont. stock. st. and work even for 5 inch. Cast on 10 sts. at the beg. of the next 2 rows for sleeve (36 sts.) Work even for 7 rows. With light blue and No. 5 needles cast on 14 sts. and work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for 4 rows. Change to stock. st. and incr. 1 st. at each end of needle every 4th row 3 times. FINISHING:

Boy's Slacks & V-Neck Cardigan
SLACKS:
Starting at top cast on 20 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for 4 rows. Change to stock. st. and work even for 6 rows. Incr. 1 st. at beg. and end of every 6th row twice. Work even until piece measures 2 ½ inch. Slip a marker on each end of needle. Decr. 1 st. at each end of needle every 6th row 5 times. Work even for 8 more rows. Bind off. Make the 2nd half of slacks the same way and sew up front and back seams to marker, then sew up each leg. Block to size. (More)
