Now work even in ribbing until the armhole measures 3¼ inches above the underarm bind off. Bind off all sts loosely, knitting the knit sts, purling the purl sts.

RIGHT FRONT: Cast on 47 sts and work in the lace pattern until the piece measures 6½ inches in all. From now on work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for remainder of yoke. Underarm: With the wrong side of the work facing you, bind off 2 sts once. Decrease 1 st at the underarm edge every other row 4 times. Work even in ribbing until the piece measures 2¼ inches above the underarm. Neck shaping: With the right side of the work facing you, bind off 14 sts; finish row. Decrease 1 st at the neck edge every other row 4 times. Then when the armhole measures 3¼ inches in all, bind off all sts loosely.

LEFT FRONT: Work as the right one until you come to the underarm bind off. Underarm: With the right side of the work facing you, bind off 2 sts once. Finish remainder of sweater to correspond to the right front.

SLEEVES: Using the # 1 needles cast on 48 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1 for an inch. On the last row of ribbing increase to 57 sts. Still keeping the pattern, decrease 1 st at each side of the work every other row 4 times. Bind off all sts very loosely. Make the other sleeve the same way.

FINISHING: Sew the shoulders, side seams. Sew up sleeve seams and sew into armhole, matching the underarm seams.
