Knitted spreads have a sleek, graceful air that makes them the perfect accent for modern furniture — the delicate character of the knitted strips creates a restful note.

MATERIALS: Use one of the following threads: Clark's O.N.T. Lustersheen, 29 skeins of White or Ecru, or 39 skeins of any color for single size spread; 36 skeins of White or Ecru, or 48 skeins of any color for double size spread.
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 39 balls of White or Ecru, or 48 balls of any color for single size spread; 48 balls of White or Ecru, or 57 balls of any color for double size spread.
Milward's Phantom Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 0 (2 mm. size).

GAUGE: Each strip measures about 8 inches wide after blocking.

Repeat pattern until piece measures 100 inches (be careful to complete the last pattern). Bind off.

   For a double size spread, about 92 x 108 inches including 6-inch fringe, make 10 strips and sew together on wrong side with neat over-and-over stitches. For a single size spread, about 76 x 108 inches including 6-inch fringe, make 8 strips and sew together in same manner.

FRINGE … Cut 8 strands, each 15 inches long. Double these strands, forming a loop. With a crochet hook, pull loop through spread, 2 sts in from edge, and draw loose ends of fringe through this loop. Pull tight. Make fringe ½ apart, around 3 edges. Then knot together 8 strands of 2 adjacent knots, ½ inch down from foundation row. Continue in this manner around. Make another row of knots ½ inch down from last row of knots. Trim fringe evenly.
