MATERIAL:
4 (4-5) skeins Knitting Worsted or Orion Sayelle (4 oz. skein)
Small amount of different color wool for embroidery
or
6 (6-7) skeins 2 color Orion Acrylic 4 ply (2 oz. skein)
Small amount of different color Orion Acrylic for embroidery
1 pair knitting needles No. 8
1 crochet hook No. 6 or G
3 (4-4) buttons

GAUGE: 4 sts. = 1 inch

PATTERN:
1st row: * K1, P1 repeat from * across row end K1.
2nd row: K across row.
3rd row: * P1, K1 repeat from * across row end P1.
4th row: K across row.
Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.

BACK:
Cast on 81 (87-93) sts. with No. 8 needles and work in pattern for 1½ inch. Slip a marker to beg. of row to mark hemline. Work even for 2 inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of needle every ¾ inch 11 (12-13) times. With 59 (63-67) sts. work even until piece measures 12½ (14-15½) inch. or any des. length to underarm above hem­line. Shape raglan armhole: bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 3 (3-4) sts. 1st row: K1, slip 1, K1, p.s.s.o., work in pattern to last 3 sts., K2 tog., K1. 2nd row: Work back in pattern. Repeat these 2 rows 18 (19-20) times. Rem. 17 (19-19) sts. bind off.

LEFT FRONT:
Cast on 47 (49-53) sts. with No. 8 needles and work in pattern for 1½ inch. Slip a marker to beg. of row to mark hemline. Work even for 2 inch. Decr. 1 st. at armhole edge every ¾ inch 11 (11-13) times. With 36 (38-40) sts. work even until the entire piece measures like back to underarm. Shape raglan armhole: bind off at armhole edge at the beg. of the next row 3 (3-4) sts. and decr. for raglan as on back 18 (19-20) times and at the same time when 12 (13-13) raglan decr. are completed (there are 21 (22-23) sts. left) bind off for neck 7 (8-8) sts. at center edge and then always 3 sts. at neck edge 2 times. Rem. 2 sts. bind off.

RIGHT FRONT:
Work as Left Front reversing all shapings and work in 3 (4-4) buttonholes evenly spaced apart in front bor­der, placing first buttonhole 5 inch. from beg. and last one 4 rows below neckline. (To make a buttonhole: Work 4 sts., bind off next 2 sts., work to end of row. On next row cast on 2 sts. over the 2 bound off sts. of previous row.)

SLEEVE:
Cast on 27 (29-31) sts. with No. 8 needles and work in pattern for 1½ inch. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 6th row until 45 (47-51) sts. are on needle, work­ing incr. sts. in pattern. Work even until the entire sleeve measures 10 (11-12) inch. or any des. length to under­arm. Shape raglan cap: bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 3 (8-4) sts. Decr. for raglan as on back 18 (19-20) times. Bind off rem. 8 sts. (all sizes). Work the other sleeve to correspond.

POCKET: (Make 2)
Cast on 17 (17-19) sts. with No. 8 needles and work in pattern for 3 ½ inch. Work right side of pattern on wrong side of pocket for ¾ inch for flap. Bind off.

CUFF: (Make 2)
Cast on 27 (29-31) sts. with No. 8 needles and work in pattern for ¾ inch. Incr. 1 st. at each end of needle every other row until 31 (33-35) sts. are on needle. Bind off.

FINISHING:
Sew up side and sleeve seams. Sew sleeves to front and back. Collar: Wrong side facing you pick up with No. 8 needles 59 (61-63) sts. around the neck. Work in pattern for 1 (1¼-1½) inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of needle every other row 3 (3-4) times. Bind off 2 sts. at the beg. of the next 4 rows. Bind off rem. sts. With No. 6 crochet hook work 2 rows s.c. around the col­lar and down each front. Work 1 row s.c. around pockets and 3 sides of cuffs, leaving cast on edge of cuff free. Place cuff to sleeve edge with right side facing you and work 1 row s.c. through double thickness. Embroider little flowers on pocket flaps, color and cuffs as shown in pic­ture. Sew buttons and pockets in place and block to size.

HAT:
Cast on 6 sts. (all sizes) with No. 8 needles and work in stock. st. and incr. as follows:
1st incr. row: Incr. 1 st. in each st. (12 sts.). P back.
2nd incr. row: * K1, incr. 1 st. in next st. repeat from * across row (18 sts.). P back.
3rd incr. row: * K2, incr. 1 st. in next st. repeat from * across row (24 sts.). P back.
4th incr. row: * K3, incr. 1 st. in next st. repeat from * across row (30 sts.). P back.
5th incr. row: * K4, incr. 1 st. in next st. repeat from * across row (36 sts.). P back.
Cont. to work this way incr. 6 sts. every K row hav­ing 1 st. more between the increases until 96 (108-108) sts. are on needle. Change to pattern and work even for 12 (14-16) rounds. Start to decr. as follow:
1st decr. round: * K10, K2 tog. repeat from * across row (88 (99-99) sts. left). P back.
2nd decr. round: * K9, K2 tog. repeat from * across row (80 (90-90) sts. left). P back.
3rd decr. round: * K8, K2 tog. repeat from * across row (72 (81-81) sts. left). P back.
4th decr. round: * K7, K2 tog. repeat from * across row (64 (72-72) sts. left). P back.
Work 2 rows stock. st. Change to pattern and work even for 4 rows. Bind off in pattern K as K and P as P. With No. 6 crochet hook and double yarn make one ch. 4½ inch. and one ch. 3½ inch. long and sew to top of hat. Make 2 pompons and sew to end of ch. Block to size.
