American Thread Company "Dawn" Shetland Floss
2 Balls Lt. Rosewood
1 Ball White
1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles #3

Gauge
12 sts = 2 inches; 18 rows = 2 inches

RIGHT LEG. With Lt. Rosewood, cast on (rather loosely) 36 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 6 rows, working 2 rows in Lt. Rosewood, 2 rows White, 2 rows Lt. Rosewood. Continue work in stockinette st using Lt. Rosewood (K 1 row P 1 row).
7th Row. K 6, turn.
8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th Rows. Purl back to end of row.
9th Row. K 12, turn.
11th Row. K 18, turn.
13th Row. K 24, turn.
15th Row. K 30, turn.
Next 4 Rows work to end of row break yarn and leave sts on needle.
LEFT LEG. Cast on 36 sts and work ribbing for 6 rows.
7th Row. K.
8th Row. P 6, turn.
9th and every alternative Row K to end of row.
10th Row. P 12, turn.
12th Row. P 18, turn.
14th Row. P 24, turn.
16th Row. P 30, turn.
17th to 20th Row. Work to end of row.
21st Row. K to end of row and K the sts of right leg on to end of needle.
Work across both legs for 35 rows even.
Next and every other Row decrease one st each side until 64 sts remain.
Work even for 24 rows.
Next Row. K 2, P to last 2 sts, K 2 and K one row.
Next Row. K 3, P to last 3 sts, K 3 and K one row.
Next Row. K 4, P to last 4 sts, K 4.
Next Row. K 4, K 2 tog (together), K to last 6 sts, K 2 tog, K 4.
Purl one row except the 1st and last 4 sts which are knitted.
Continue in stockinette st, working a border of 4 sts in plain knitting at each end and decrease 1 st each end inside the border in the 3rd and every following 4th row until 48 sts remain.
Continue as follows.
1st Row. K 4, P 8, K 24, P 8, K 4.
2nd Row. K.
3rd Row. K 4, P 7, K 26, P 7, K 4.
4th Row. K 4, K 2 tog, K to last 6 sts, K 2 tog, K 4.
5th Row. K 4, P 6, K 4, bind off 18 sts, K 4, P 6, K 4.
Work on the last 14 sts as follows:
1st Row. K.
2nd Row. K 4, P 6, K 4.
3rd Row. K 4, K 2 tog, K 2, K 2 tog, K 4.
4th & 6th Rows. K 4, P 4, K 4.
5th & 9th Rows. K.
7th Row. K 4, K 2 tog. twice, K 4.
8th & 10th Rows. K 4, P 2, K 4.
11th Row. K 3, K 2 tog. twice, K 3.
Work 10 rows in plain knitting and bind off.
Work other side to correspond joining wool at neck side.
BACK. Work same as front until 64 sts remain.
Work 12 rows even.
Continue as follows:
1st & 3rd Rows. K 1, P 4, K 54, P 4, K 1.
2nd & 4th Rows. K.
5th Row. K 1, P 3, K 56, P 3, K 1.
6th Row. K 8, bind off 12 sts, K 24, bind off 12 sts and work on last 8 sts as follows:
1st Row. K 2, K 2 tog, K 4.
2nd Row. K 1, P 3, K 3.
3rd Row. K 1, K 2 tog, K 4.
4th Row. K 1, P 2, K 3.
5th Row. K 1, K 2 tog, K 3.
6th, 8th, 10th Rows. K.
7th Row. K 1, K 2 tog, K 2.
9th Row. K 1, K 2 tog, K 1.
11th Row. K 2 tog, K 1, bind off.
Work 73 rows in plain knitting on first 8 sts on needle, bind off. Bind off next 8 sts on needle and work 73 rows on next 8 sts on needle. On remaining sts work as follows:
1st Row. K 4, P 2 tog, P 2.
2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th Rows. K.
3rd Row. K 4, P 2 tog, K 1.
5th Row. K 3, P 2 tog, K 1.
7th Row. K 2, P 2 tog, K 1.
9th Row. K 1, P 2 tog, K 1.
11th Row. K 1, P 2 tog, and bind off.
GUSSET. Cast on 2 sts and K 2 sts in each st.
2nd and every alternate row P.
3rd Row. Increase in 1st and last st. Continue work increasing one st each side every other row until there are 20 sts, then decrease one st each side every other row until 2 sts remain, bind off.
Sew up underarm and shoulder seams and sew gusset in position.
Embroider the boat design in cross st using White and follow chart.
