Milward's Casein Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 2 (2¾ mm. size) and 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size).
Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Six Strand Cotton, 1 skein each of Pink and Yellow.
6 buttons.

GAUGE: 7½ sts make 1 inch; 10 rows make 1 inch.

Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 1½ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and work in stockinette stitch (k 1 row, p 1 row) for	7½"	8½"
Place a marker at both ends of work to indicate start of armhole. Continue straight until piece measures in all	12½"	14"

Bind off for back of neck the next	26 sts	34 sts
Work across remaining 25 sts	Both Sizes
Work over these sts in Pattern Stitch for Front for 1½ inches. Cast on, at neck edge	16 sts	20 sts

Buttonholes are made 4 sts in from front edge (on Left Front for boys and on Right Front for girls). To make a buttonhole, on one row, k 2 tog, O; on next row work the O as a st. (O twice when making a buttonhole with No. 2 needles, and on next row work only one O, dropping the extra one). Make the first buttonhole after the first	2"	2¼"
and every	2"	2¼"
thereafter (measuring from the 1st buttonhole) until 5 in all are made.
Continue over these	41 sts	45 sts
keeping the first 8 sts at front edge in garter stitch (knit each row), and the remaining sts in Pattern Stitch, until piece measures, from marker	7"	8"
Place another marker (sleeve sts will be picked up between markers). Continue straight until piece measures, from back of neck	11"	12½"
Dec 1 st on the last row. Change to No. 2 needles and work in ribbing, keeping the 8 sts of front border in garter st, for 1½ inches. Bind off in ribbing. Attach yarn at neck edge and work other side to correspond.	Both Sizes
SLEEVES … With right side facing and No. 3 needles, pick up along outer edge, between markers	52 sts	60 sts
Work in stockinette stitch for	9"	9½"
Change to No. 2 needles and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 1½ inches. Bind off in ribbing	Both Sizes
NECKBAND … With right side facing, using No. 2 needles, pick up 90 sts along neck edge. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for ¼ inch. Make a buttonhole in line with previous buttonholes. Work straight until band is ¾ inch wide. Bind off in ribbing.	Both Sizes
FINISHING … Sew up side and sleeve seams in one continuous seam. Sew on buttons. Press lightly through a damp cloth to measurements given.
EMBROIDERY … Using a blunt tapestry needle and Yellow Six Strand Cotton, work 7 French knots in a group midway between buttonholes. With Pink work a flower in lazy daisy stitches about ⅜ inch long around knots. With Yellow work two groups of 6 knots each at upper right and lower left of each flower.
