This bolero can be made with any of the following:
"DAWN" or "CLOVER LEAF" NYLON
or
"DAWN" NYLON SOCK & SWEATER YARN
or
"DAWN" DACRON FINGERING YARN
or
"DAWN" BRAEBURN SPORT YARN
9 (10-11) ozs. French Blue, Light Blue or Baby Blue.
1 oz. White or any contrasting color for all sizes.
1 snap fastener.
1 pr. knitting needles No. 6.
Steel crochet hook No. 0.

GAUGE: 9 sts = 2 inches.
Bolero is worked with a double strand of yarn throughout.
BACK: With Blue cast on 66 (72, 76) sts and work in pattern as follows:
1st Row. * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row.
2nd Row. * P 1, K 1, repeat from * across row. Work even in pattern for ¾ inch.
Next Row. Keeping pattern even, increase 1 st on each side, then increase 1 st on each side every ¾ inch twice, 72 (78, 82) sts. Work even until back measures 4 (4½, 4½) inches from beginning.
Cast on 5 sts at beginning of next 20 rows for sleeves, then cast on 4 (4, 7) sts at beginning of next 2 rows 180 (186, 196) sts. Work even for 4 (4½, 5) inches.
Next 2 Rows. Bind off 1 (3, 8) sts at beginning of each row.
Bind off 8 sts at the beginning of next 20 rows, then bind off remaining 18 (20, 20) sts for back of neck.
RIGHT FRONT: With Blue, cast on 15 (18, 21) sts and work in pattern across row, cast on 2 sts, place a marker in last cast on st for front edge. Work even in pattern casting on 2 sts at front edge every other row twice, then increase 1 st at front edge every other row 15 times, at the same time increase 1 st at side edge every ¾ inch 3 times, 39 (42, 45) sts. Work even in pattern until front measures same as back to underarm. Keeping front edge even cast on 5 sts at side edge every other row 10 times.
Next Row. Cast on 4 (4, 7) sts at side edge, 93 (96, 102) sts. Work even for 4½ (4½, 5) inches ending at sleeve edge.
Next Row. Bind off 1 (3, 8) sts at beginning of row, then bind off 8 sts at beginning of every other row 10 times, at the same time when the 4th bind off at sleeve edge is completed bind off 9 sts at neck edge, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 3 (4, 5) times. Work even at neck edge until all sleeve bind offs are completed, cut yarn.
LEFT FRONT: Work same as right front reversing the shaping.
CUFFS: Cast on 40 (40, 42) sts and work even in pattern for 2 inches, then decrease 1 st at each end every other row 3 times, bind off.
COLLAR: Cast on 62 (64, 66) sts and work same as cuffs.
FINISHING: Block each section. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew top sleeve seams. Sew collar and cuffs in position having opening of cuffs at upper sleeve seam.
SCALLOP TRIM: With single strand of White ch 19, 5 d c in 4th st from hook, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts of ch, 2 d c in next st, repeat from * twice, 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts of ch, 5 d c in next st, skip next 2 sts, sl st in last st, cut yarn.
Work 30 more scallops in same manner and sew in position down each front, around collar and cuffs as illustrated. If desired trim with pearl beads as illustrated. Sew snap fastener in position at neck line.
