5 Medium Balls White or Colors.
4 Double Pointed Steel Knitting Needles Number 14.
Gauge — 9 sts = 1 inch. 13 rows = 1 inch.
Pattern for hand part of glove:
1st and 2nd Rounds. * K 1, P 1, repeat from * all around.
3rd and 4th Rounds. * P 1, K 1, repeat from * all around. Repeat these 4 rounds for pattern.
Right Hand Glove. Cast on 3 needles 60 sts (20-20-20) and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 3 inches then work 6 rounds of pattern.
7th Round. Start gusset for thumb which is worked in stockinette st. Work 5 sts, increase 1 st in next st and complete round.
8th, 9th and 10th Rounds. Work even in pattern working the 6th and 7th rounds in stockinette st.
11th Round. Work 5 sts, increase 1 st in 6th and 7th st, complete round and work 2 rounds even.
15th Round. Increase in 6th and 9th st and work 3 rounds even.
19th Round. Increase in 6th and 11th st and work 3 rounds even.
23rd Round. Increase in 6th and 13th st and work 3 rounds even.
27th Round. Increase in 6th and 15th st and work 3 rounds even.
31st Round. Increase in 6th and 17th st and work 3 rounds even.
35th Round. Work 5 sts, place the next 14 sts on a thread, cast on 11 sts and complete round.
Work even in pattern for 2½ inches.
Next round start finger. Work 1st 14 sts in stockinette st, place next 52 sts on a thread, cast on 2 sts to the 14 sts on needle and K the remaining 4 sts of the 3rd needle. Join these 20 sts and work in stockinette st for 3 inches.
Next round decrease, * K 3, K 2 together, repeat from * all around and work 1 round even. Next round K 2 together all around and work 1 round even. Draw thread through remaining sts and fasten firmly on the wrong side of finger.
Second Finger. Take 9 sts from each side of thread and start knitting on back of glove. K 9 sts from needle, pick up 2 sts on side of 1st finger, K 9 sts, cast on 2 sts, join and work 3½ inches decreasing one st on each side of finger in first round (20 sts). Decrease and finish same as 1st finger.
Third finger is made same as 2nd finger working 2½ inches even.
Little Finger. Take last 8 sts from each side of thread, pick up 2 sts on side of 3rd finger and work even for 2⅞ inches. Decrease as follows, * K 1, K 2 together, repeat from * all around, work 1 round even. Draw thread through remaining sts and fasten firmly.
Thumb. Pick up the 14 sts from thread and K them, pick up 10 sts in back of thumb. Work on these 24 sts for 2⅞ inches, then decrease as follows. * K 1, K 2 together, repeat from * all around and work 1 round even. Next round, K 2 together all around, draw thread through remaining sts and fasten firmly.
Left Glove. Work same as right glove to gusset.
7th round after ribbing. K 24 sts in pattern, increase in 25th st, complete round and work 3 rounds even.
11th Round. Increase in 25th and 26th st and work 3 rounds even.
15th Round. Increase in 25th and 28th st and work 3 rounds even.
19th Round. Increase in 25th and 30th st and work 3 rounds even.
23rd Round. Increase in 25th and 32nd st and work 3 rounds even.
27th Round. Increase in 25th and 34th st and work 3 rounds even.
31st Round. Increase in 25th and 36th st and continue same as right glove to fingers.
Start Fingers. Place 1st 26 sts on a thread, use the next 18 sts for 1st finger and place remaining 26 sts on a thread. Cast on 2 sts on 18 sts, join and work finger same as other fingers. Work remaining fingers to correspond.
