MATERIAL:
3 balls Sock yarn 3 ply, m. c. (1 oz. ball)
1  ball Sock yarn 3 ply, 1st c. c. for diamond (1 oz. ball)
1  ball Sock yarn 3 ply, 2nd c. c. for chevron (1 oz. ball)
1 pair knitting needles each No. 1 and No. 2
1 set sock needles No. 2
1 set of yarn bobbins
1 card of Nylon for heel and toe reinforcement

GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch

Note: Main color = M
1st c.c. for diamonds = L
2nd c. c. for chevrons = D
Wind 3 balls of M, 2 bobbins of L and take 4 long strands of D

With M and No. 1 needles cast on 64 sts. and work back and forth in ribbing K 2, P 2 for 2½ inch. Break yarn. Change to No. 2 needles, stock, st. and pattern as shown in Chart No. 306. 1st row: Attach a ball of M, K 15 M, attach a bobbin of L, K 1 L, attach a ball of M, K 32 M, attach a bobbin of L, K 1 L attach a ball of M, K 15 M. 2nd row: P 14 M, 3 L, 30 M, 3 L, 14 M. 3rd row: K 13 M, 5 L, 28 M, 5 L, 13 M. 4th row: P 12 M, 7 L, 26 M, 7 L, 12 M. 5th row: K 9 M, attach a strand of D, K 2 D, 9L, attach another strand of D, K 2 D, K 20 M, attach another strand of D, K 2 D, 9 L, attach a strand of D, K 2 D, 9 M. All colors are attached now. Follow Chart No. 306 until 7 diamonds are worked. Break all bobbins. Connect a ball of M and from now on work with No. 2 sock needles. K across 16 sts. (first needle). With another needle work over next 16 sts. for instep. With another needle work over next 16 sts. for instep (32 instep sts. all tog.). Slip rem. 16 sts. to first needle. These 32 sts. will be worked for heel. (Make sure that center of heel is center of sock). Attach Nylon and from now on follow in­structions for Plain Socks Pattern starting with Heel.
