
These designs are made of J. & P Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen or Clark's O.N.T. Cronita; and size 5 Pearl Cotton or Mercerized Crochet. Use double point steel knitting needles, or 2 millimeter size.

Cast on 9 sts. 1st row: 2 double sts. (To make double st, k 1 st, put it back on 1st needle, k it again.) * Then in next st, p 1, k 1, p 1, without removing loop from left needle until last p st is made (3 loops made in one st). K 1, repeat from * once, then k 2 together, k 1. 2nd row: Sl 1 st, k 1, pick up 1 st, k across, ending with a pick-up st, k 2. 3rd row: 2 double sts. * In next st, p 1, k 1, p 1. K 3 together. Repeat from *, ending with k 2 together, k 1. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until there are 26 sts on the even row. Then decrease as follows: Next row: 2 double sts, k 4 together. * In next st, p 1, k 1, p 1. K 3 together. Repeat from * ending with k 2 together, k 1. 2nd decreasing row: Sl 1 st, k 1, pick up st, k across, ending with 1 pick-up st, 1 double st, k 1. 3rd decreasing row: 1 double st, k 2 together, k 4 together. * In next st, p 1, k 1, p 1. K 3 together, ending with k 2 together, k 1. Alternate 2nd and 3rd decreasing rows until 14 sts remain on the even row. Then work same as 3rd and 2nd rows of pattern and continue for desired length.
