Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" PEARL COTTON, SIZE 5
5 60-yd. Balls White or Colors.
4 Double Pointed Steel Knitting Needles No. 14.

Gauge: 9 sts = 1 inch. 13 rows = 1 inch.

PATTERN. 1st Round—* K 1, P 1, repeat from * all around.
2nd Round—Knit. Repeat these 2 rounds throughout glove.
LEFT HAND GLOVE. On 3 needles cast on 60 sts (20-20-20) and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 3 inches.
Next Round—Starts the pattern which is followed throughout. Work 5 rounds in pattern.
6th Round—Start gusset for thumb—(1st needle). Work 5 stitches, increase in next st by working in front and back of st, complete round and work 1 round even.
Repeat the last 2 rounds increasing in 6th st of 1st needle every other round until there are 10 increases always keeping the pattern straight.
Work 6 rounds even in pattern.
Next Round—K 5, place next 10 sts on a safety pin for thumb, cast on 10 sts over thumb and complete round. Work even in pattern for 2½ inches.
Next Round—Start Finger. Working in pattern, K 4 sts of 1st needle onto 3rd needle. The next 18 sts are used for finger. Place all other sts on a thread. Arrange the 18 sts on 3 needles, cast on 2 sts, join and work in pattern for 3 inches.
Next Round—K 2 together throughout round and work 1 round even. Break thread leaving an end. Thread into needle and draw through remaining sts, fasten firmly on wrong side.
SECOND FINGER. Take 9 sts from palm of glove, pick up 2 sts on inside of completed first finger, take 9 sts from back of glove, cast on 2 sts, arrange on 3 needles and work even in pattern for 3½ inches. Decrease and finish same as 1st finger.
THIRD FINGER. Same as 2nd finger but work even for 2⅞ inches, decrease and finish same as 2nd finger.
LITTLE FINGER. Pick up the last 16 sts, pick up 2 sts on inside of 3rd finger and work even in pattern for 2½ inches, decrease and finish same as other fingers.
THUMB. Pick up the 10 sts from safety pin, pick up 2 sts on each side and 10 cast on sts, (24 sts in all) and work even in pattern for 2⅞ inches. Decrease and finish same as other fingers.
RIGHT GLOVE. Work same as left glove to gusset.
Next Round—Work across 1st and 2nd needles, work 14 sts of 3rd needle, increase in next st, work 5 sts and work 1 round even.
Work in same manner as left glove always increasing in the 6th st from end of 3rd needle every other round, keeping pattern straight until there are 10 increases and work 6 rounds even in pattern.
Next Round—Work across 1st and 2nd needles, work 15 sts of 3rd needle, place next 10 sts on safety pin for thumb, cast on 10 sts and work remaining 5 sts. Work same as left glove to 1st finger.
Work across 1st and 2nd needles, then work 8 sts of 3rd needle onto 2nd needle, the next 18 sts are used for 1st finger. Place remaining sts on a thread, cast on 2 sts, arrange on 3 needles, and work same as left glove. The other fingers and thumb are worked same as left glove.
