MATERIAL:
¼ oz. Fingering Yarn 3 ply
Small amount of contrasting color for trimming
1 pair knitting needles No. 2
1 crochet hook No. 3 or D
GAUGE: 15 sts. = 2 inch.
BACK:
Cast on 22 sts. with No. 2 needles and work in stock. st. for 2 rows. P 1 row on right side for hemline. Cont. in stock. st. for 2 ¼ inch. Slip a marker to each end of needle to mark armhole. Work even for 1 inch from marker. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 2 rows 6 sts., rem. 10 sts. bind off for neck.
FRONT:
Work Front as Back until piece measures 2 ¼ inch. Slip a marker to each end of needle to mark armhole. Work even for 2 rows above marker. Work across 11 sts. and slip hem to a holder. Work over rem. 11 sts. only. Decr. for neck 1 st. every other row at center edge until 6 sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off 6 sts. Slip sts. from holder back to needle, attach yarn and work this side of neck to correspond.
SLEEVE:
Sew up shoulder seams and pick up with No. 2 needles 16 sts. between markers and work in stock. st. for 4 rows. Bind off loosely. Work the other sleeve to correspond.
COLLAR:
With No. 2 needles cast on 18 sts. and work in stock. st. for 1 inch. K across 4 sts. and slip them to a holder, bind off next 10 sts. for back of neck and K across rem. 4 sts. only. Work even for ¾ inch. Decr. 1 st. at inner edge only every other row until 1 st. is left. Fasten off. Slip sts. from holder back to needle, attach yarn and finish this side of collar to correspond.
FINISHING:
Sew up side seams incl. sleeves. Sew collar to sweater. Turn up hem and sew to wrong side. With contrasting color and No. 3 crochet hook work 1 row s.c. around the collar. Make a bow in front.
Slacks are the same as No. 787.
