MATERIAL:
¾ oz. Fingering Yarn 3 ply
1 pair knitting needles No. 3
2 buttons
GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch
SLACKS:
Starting at top cast on 20 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for 4 rows. Change to stock. st. and work even for 6 rows. Incr. 1 st. at beg. and end of every 6th row twice. Work even until piece measures 2 ½ inch. Slip a marker on each end of needle. Decr. 1 st. at each end of needle every 6th row 5 times. Work even for 8 more rows. Bind off. Make the 2nd half of slacks the same way and sew up front and back seams to marker, then sew up each leg. Block to size.
CARDIGAN:
BACK:
Cast on 21 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in seed st. for 3 rows. Change to stock. st. and work even for 2 ½ inch. Slip a marker on each end of needle to mark armhole. Work even for 1 inch. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 2 rows 6 sts., rem. 7 sts. work in seed st. for 3 rows. Bind off loosely.
FRONT:
Cast on 13 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in seed st. for 3 rows. Change to stock. st. and keep the 3 center front sts. in seed st. for border until the entire piece measures 1 ¾ inches. Decr. for V neck 1 st. inside the 3 border sts. every 3rd row 4 times and at the same time when piece measures as long as back to armhole, slip a marker on needle. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 6 sts. Bind off rem. 3 border sts. Work the other Front to correspond.
SLEEVE:
Sew up shoulder seam including border. With No. 3 needles pick up 14 sts. between markers and work in stock. st. for 2 ¼ inch. Decr. 3 sts. across next row. Change to seed st. and work even for 3 rows. Bind off loosely. Work the other sleeve to correspond.
FINISHING:
Sew up side and sleeve seams. Sew buttons in place and block to size.
