MATERIAL:

5 skeins Germantown (2 oz. skein)
2 spools Tinsel (75 yards)
1 pair knitting needles No. 6

GAUGE: 5 ½ sts. = 1 inch

With yarn and No. 6 needles cast on 53 sts.

1st and 2nd row: (yarn) work seed st.

3rd row: (tinsel) work seed st.

4th row: (tinsel) P 1, * y.o., K 2 tog. repeat from * across row.

Repeat these 4 rows until piece measures 9 inch. Break off tinsel and work in seed st. with yarn only for 10 ½ inch. Incr. 1 st. every other row at one side only (outer edge) until there are 93 sts. on needle. Work even for 7 inch. Decr. 1 st. every other row on outer edge only until 53 sts. are left. Work even for 10 ½ inch. Attach tinsel and work in pattern for 9 inch. as given for beg. Work 2 rows seed st. with yarn. Bind off loosely.

FRINGE:

Wind yarn over a 9 inch cardboard, cut at one end. Knot 4 strands in every 3rd st. on both short ends and on cape side of stole. Trim fringe evenly. Steam lightly.
