Country Club Pullover Pattern

Materials: Choose one of the following threads in size 10, White or Ecru:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, 14 balls.
J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, 10 balls.
J. & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, 6 balls.
Milward's Phantom Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 0 (2 mm. size).
Two 4-inch slide fasteners, in any color.

Measurements: Bust—34 inches. Length from top of shoulder—19 inches.

Gauge: 14 sts make 1 inch; 16 rows make 1 inch.

Back. Starting at bottom, cast on 193 sts. 1st row: * K 4, p 3. Repeat from * across, ending row with k 4. 2nd row: * P 4, k 3. Repeat from * across, ending row with p 4. These 2 rows constitute the pattern. Repeat these 2 rows alternately until piece measures 5 inches. Then inc. 1 st at both ends of next row and every 5th row thereafter until there are 235 sts on needle. Work straight until piece measures 12 inches.

To Shape Armholes: Bind off 4 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows. Then dec. 1 st at end of each row until 221 sts remain. Work straight until piece measures 7½ inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. Bind off loosely.

Front. Starting at bottom, cast on 193 sts and work as for Back until piece measures 5 inches. Then inc. 1 st at both ends of next and every 4th row thereafter until there are 249 sts on needle. Work straight until piece measures 12 inches.

To Shape Armholes: Bind off 4 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows. Then dec. 1 st at both ends of each row until 235 sts remain. Work straight until piece measures 7½ inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. Bind off loosely.

Pockets. Starting at bottom, cast on 46 sts and work in pattern for 3 inches. Bind off.

Sew up underarm seams. Sew up shoulder seams, starting at armhole edge and working along shoulder edge for ½ inch. Sew slide fasteners along shoulder openings. Sew on pockets as in illustration.
