MATERIALS:
Chadwick's Red Heart Shetland Floss, 7 balls (1 oz. balls).
Milward's Phantom Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 1 (2½ mm. size) and 1 pair No. 6 (4¼ mm. size).
1 buttons.

MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING: Bust—35½ inches. Width across back at underarm—17 inches. Width across back at shoulder—13½ inches. Width across each front at underarm—8½ inches. Length from underarm to lower edge—10½ inches. Length of sleeve, underarm seam—5½ inches. Width of sleeve at underarm—13 inches.

GAUGE: (Stockinette st) 6 sts make 1 inch; 7 rows make 1 inch. Both ribbings are 10 sts to 1 inch.

BACK … With No. 1 needles cast on 140 sts and work 6 inches in ribbing of k 2, p 2, decreasing 30 sts on last row (110 sts). Change to No. 6 needles and work in stockinette st (k 1 row, p 1 row) for 4½ inches, ending with a p row.

TO SHAPE ARMHOLES: * K 2, k 2 tog., k across to within last 4 sts, k 2 tog., k 2. Next row: P across. Repeat from * 11 more times. Work straight until piece measures 17 inches in all, decreasing 15 sts on last row (71 sts). Bind off.

BACK NECK BAND … Holding right side toward you, with No. 1 needles pick up 40 sts along center 25 bound-off sts of Back. Work 1 inch in ribbing of k 1, p 1. Bind off in ribbing.

LEFT FRONT … With No. 1 needles cast on 70 sts and work 6 inches in ribbing, decreasing 10 sts on last row (60 sts). Change to No. 6 needles and work in stockinette st, decreasing 1 st at front edge on next row and every 4th row thereafter 16 times in all but, when piece measures 9½ inches (end with a p row), continuing with front shaping, shape armhole as follows: * K 2, k 2 tog., k across. Next row: P across. Repeat from * 11 more times. Continue armhole edge straight until piece measures 16 inches (32 sts). Change to No. 1 needles and work 1 inch in k 1, p 1, ribbing.

RIGHT FRONT … Work to correspond with Left Front, reversing shapings.

RIGHT FRONT BAND … Holding right side toward you, with No. 1 needles pick up 150 sts along entire center front edge and work ½ inch in k 1, p 1, ribbing, ending at bottom of front. Next row: Work in pattern across 9 sts, O, k 2 tog., (work in pattern across next 7 sts, O, k 2 tog.) 6 times—7 buttonholes made; work in pattern across remaining sts. Continue in ribbing until band measures 1 inch in all.

LEFT FRONT BAND … Work as for Right Front band, omitting buttonholes.

Sew up shoulder seams. Join bands. Sew up underarm seams.

SLEEVES … With No. 1 needles cast on 90 sts and work 1½ inches in k 2, p 2, ribbing, decreasing 20 sts on last row (70 sts). Change to No. 6 needles and work in stockinette st, increasing 1 st at both ends of next row and every 4th row until there are 84 sts. Work straight until piece measures 5½ inches in all, ending with a p row. To shape top of sleeve: * K 2, k 2 tog., k across to within last 4 sts, k 2 tog., k 2. Next row: P across. Repeat from * 11 more times. Bind off loosely. Sew up sleeve seams; sew in sleeves, matching sleeve shapings to armhole shapings and gathering extra sleeve fullness into remaining armhole space. Sew on buttons.
