MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Shetland Floss, 8 balls (1 oz. balls).
Milward's Phantom Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 1 (2½ mm. size) and 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size).
2 Crown Iris Zippers, 4-inch, Style F.70.

MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING: Bust—36 inches. Width across back at underarm—18 inches. Width across back at shoulder—14 inches. Width across front at underarm—18 inches. Length from underarm to lower edge—12 inches. Length of sleeve, underarm seam—4½ inches. Width of sleeve at underarm—13 inches.

GAUGE: 7 sts make 1 inch; 9 rows make 1 inch.

BACK … Starting at bottom, with No. 1 needles cast on 96 sts. 1st row: K 1, * p 2, k 2. Repeat from * across, ending with k 1. 2nd row: (Right side) K 1, * k 2, p 2. Repeat from * across, ending with k 3. Repeat these 2 rows alternately for 5 inches, ending with 1st row. Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern as follows:
1st row: K 1, k 2 tog., O, * p 2, O, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., p 2, k 2 tog., O. Repeat from * across, ending with p 2, O, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., k 1. 2nd row: K 1, * p 2, k 2. Repeat from * across, ending with k 1. 3rd row: K 1, O, * sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., p 2, k 2 tog., O, p 2. Repeat from * across, ending with sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., p 2, k 2 tog., O, k 1. 4th row: Same as 2nd row. These 4 rows constitute the pattern. Work in pattern, increasing 1 st at both ends of every 4th row until there are 126 sts on needle. Work straight until piece measures 12¼ inches in all.

TO SHAPE ARMHOLES: Bind off 6 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Dec. 1 st at end of each row until 106 sts remain. Work straight until piece measures 4¾ inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. Change to No. 1 needles and work 2 inches in ribbing of k 2, p 2. Bind off.

FRONT … Work as for Back for 5 inches. Then work as follows: 1st row: With right side toward you, k 1, k 2 tog., O, and continue in ribbing to within last 3 sts; O, k 2 tog., k 1. 2nd row: K 1, * p 2, k 2. Repeat from * across, ending with k 1. 3rd row: K 1, O, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., p 2, k 2 tog., O, and work in ribbing to within last 7 sts; sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., p 2, k 2 tog., O, k 1. 4th row: Same as 2nd row, but inc. 1 st at both ends of row. 5th row: K 2, k 2 tog., O, p 2, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., p 2; work in ribbing to within last 10 sts; p 2, k 2 tog., O, p 2, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., p 1, k 1. 6th row: Same as 2nd row. Continue to inc. 1 st at both ends of every 4th row; at the same time, change 3 rib sts at both ends of every other row into pattern sts until all sts are in pattern and there are 126 sts on needle. Work straight until piece measures 12¼ inches in all. Finish as for Back.

SLEEVES … Starting at bottom, with No. 1 needles cast on 64 sts and work in ribbing for 1 inch. Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern, increasing 1 st at end of each row until there are 94 sts on needle. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Then dec. 1 st at end of each row until 22 sts remain. Bind off.

Sew up underarm seams. Sew a zipper along each shoulder. Sew up sleeve seams and sew in sleeves, making 2 tucks at top.
