1 Pr. Standard No. 1 Needles—14 in.
1 Pr. Standard No. 3 Needles—14 in.
Gold Medal Fingering Yarn (A Jack Frost Product)—7 1-oz. Skeins

BACK: With No. 3 Needles cast on 113 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 in. Discontinue ribbing and work even in stockinette st until piece measures 13 in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 5 ¾ in. from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows. Bind off remaining sts.

RIGHT FRONT: With No. 3 Needles cast on 63 sts. Keeping the first 8 sts worked in garter st, work in ribbing of P 1, K 1, over remaining 55 sts for 1 in., then work first buttonhole as follows: K 3, bind off next 2 sts, work across row. Work back, casting on 2 sts over the 2 bound off sts. Repeat buttonholes every 2 ½ in. to neck edge, working last buttonhole in neckband. When piece measures 2 in. from lower edge, discontinue ribbing and work in stockinette st, continuing buttonhole band, until piece measures 13 in. from lower edge. Bind off 8 sts at underarm edge once; decrease 1 st at underarm edge every other row 8 times. Work even until piece measures 4 ½ in. from bound off sts at underarm. Starting at neck edge, K 8, place on pin. Bind off next 5 sts; decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 5 ¾ in. from bound off sts at underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 4 times. Work left front to correspond, omitting buttonholes.

Sew shoulder seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 3 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 28 sts across top of shoulder. Work back and forth in stockinette st, picking up 5 sts at end of each row until 88 sts have been picked up from end to end of armhole. Work 10 rows even. Decrease 1 st at each end of next row and every 6th row thereafter to 76 sts, then every 8th row to 60 sts. Work even until piece measures 15 in. or desired length from underarm. Change to No. 1 Needles, decreasing to 51 sts at even intervals across row. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3 in. Bind off. Sew underarm and sleeve seams.

NECKBAND: With No. 3 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 89 sts from end to end of neckband, including those placed on pin. Keeping first and last 8 sts worked in garter st, work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows, working last buttonhole on second row. Bind off.
