1 Pr. Standard No. 2 Needles—14 in.
1 Pr. Standard No. 3 Needles—14 in.
Gold Medal Fingering Yarn (A Jack Frost Product)—6 1-oz. Skeins

BACK: With No. 3 Needles cast on 97 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 1 ½ in. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 3 times. Work even until piece measures 1 ½ in. from underarm, ending on right side. K 1 row on wrong side, * K 1 row, P 1 row for 5 rows. K 1 row on wrong side. Repeat from * until piece measures 5 in. from underarm. Continuing pattern, bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows. Change to No. 2 Needles and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.

RIGHT FRONT: With No. 3 Needles cast on 54 sts. Keeping first 7 sts worked in garter st for buttonhole band to neck edge, work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, on remaining 47 sts; working first buttonhole on the 11th row and every 22nd row thereafter, as follows: K 2, bind off next 3 sts, K 2, work across row. On next row cast on 3 sts over the bound off sts. Last buttonhole is worked in neck band. When piece measures 1 ½ in. from lower edge, continuing buttonhole band, work remaining sts in stockinette st until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Keeping front edge even, bind off 7 sts at underarm edge once; decrease 1 st at underarm edge every other row 5 times, starting garter st ridge as given for back after the 3rd decrease at underarm. Work even in pattern until piece measures 3 ½ in. from underarm. Keeping armhole edge even, work over 7 sts, place on st-holder. Bind off 2 sts at neck edge every other row 4 times; decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 3 times. Work even until piece measures 5 in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 8 sts at beginning of every other row 3 times. Work other side to correspond, omitting buttonholes.

Sew shoulder seams.

NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 97 sts from end to end of neckband, including sts which were placed on st-holder. Work as follows: (wrong side) K 7, K 1, P 1, over 73 sts, K 7. Row 2—K 7, P 1, K 1, over 73 sts, K 7. Repeat above 2 rows until 7 rows have been made in all. Work last buttonhole in 2nd row of neckband. Bind off.

SLEEVES: With No. 3 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 18 sts across top of shoulder. Work back and forth in stockinette st, picking up 5 sts at end of each row until 78 sts have been picked up from end to end of armhole. Work 13 rows even. Decrease 1 st at each end of the next row and every 8th row thereafter until 11 decrease rows in all have been made. Work even until piece measures 12 ½ in. from underarm. Change to No. 2 Needles, decreasing to 52 sts at even intervals across row. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 ½ in. Bind off.

Sew underarm and sleeve seams.
