Directions are for Size 10. Changes for Sizes 12, 14, 16 and 18 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS REQUIRED: Columbia-Minerva
REFLECTION (1 oz pull skein)

Knitting Needles: One pair "Boye" Size 4 and one circular Size 5—24-inch

Gauge: Stockinette Stitch on Size 5 - 6 sts to 1 inch; 17 rows to 2 inches Ribbing on Size 4 - 7 sts to 1 inch; 9 rows to 1 inch

Note: Directions are for a 35(35¼-35½-35¾-36) inch dress measured from hemline to shoulder. To lengthen or shorten make adjustment before waistline. Dress up to yoke is worked around and the purl side is right side. Starting at hemline with Size 5 circular needle and Color A - cast on 280(288-300-308-320) loosely. Join, being careful not to twist. Mark beg of rows. K 1 and P 1 in ribbing for 8 rows. K'ing every row for St St and carrying unused yarn on K side, work in stripes:
Rows 1 through 10: [K 1 row with A and 1 row with B] 5 times.
Rows 11 through 14: [K 1 row with C and 1 row with A] twice.
Row 15: K 1 row with C.
Repeat these 15 rows for pat, working until there are 9 complete pats, then work 8 rows of 10th pat, end with B row. Dress measures about 17½ inches, make adjustment for length at this point.

Waistline Dec: With A - * K 8(7-8-9-8), K 2 tog, repeat from * around. With B - K the 252(256-270-280-288) sts. With A - * K 5(6-7-8-10), K 2 tog, repeat from * around. Break off B and C.

Waistband: With A - K 1 and P 1 in ribbing on the 216(224-240-252-264) sts for 20 rows. Next row K 9(12-8-8-14), K 2 tog,* K 13(20-15-16-16), K 2 tog, repeat from * to last 10(12-9-8-14), K to end. Starting with 2nd row of stripe pat, continue stripes on the 202(214- 226-238-250) sts until there are 4 complete pats above ribbing then work 9 rows of 5th pat, end with A row. Break off A and C. Width around bust is 33¾(35¾-37¾-39¾-41¾) inches. Length is about 28½ inches.

Divide for Front and Back: With B - bind off 8(10-10-12-12) for underarm, K 92(96-102-106-112) more and sl these 93(97-103-107-113) to holder for front, bind off next 8(10-10-12-12), K to end.

Back: Turn. Next row on right side, join A and P the 93(97-103-107-113) sts. Change to Size 4 needles and work back and forth with A only as follows:
Next row P 2 tog, K 1, * P 1, K 1, repeat from * to last 2 sts, P 2 tog. Repeat last row until 85(89-91-95-97) sts rem, end on right side.
Row 1: K 1, * P 1, K 1, repeat from * across.
Row 2: P 1, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across.
Repeat these 2 rows to 6½(6¾-7-7¼-7½) inches above underarm.
Width across shoulders is 12¼(12¾-13-13½-14) inches.

Shoulders: Bind off 8(9-9-9-9) at beg of next 6(4-4-4-4) rows then on Sizes 12(14-16-18) Only bind off 8(8-10-10) at beg of next 2 rows. Sl rem'ing 37(37-39-39-41) to a holder for neck.

Front: Work same as back to 5¼(5½-5¾-6-6¼) inches above underarm.

Neck and Shoulder: Work 30(32-32-34-34) and sl them to a holder, work center 25(25-27-27-29) and sl them to 2nd holder for neck, work to end. Dec 1 at neck every other row 6 times And At The Same Time when armhole matches back armhole bind off 8(9-9-9-9) at armhole edge 3(2-2-2-2) times then on Sizes 12(14-16-18) Only bind off 8(8-10-10) at same edge once. Starting at neck work other side to correspond.

Sleeves: With Size 4 needles and A - cast on 48(50-50-52-54). K 1 and P 1 in ribbing, inc'ing 1 each side every 6th row 14(17-18-17-14) times every 8th(8th-4th-4th-4th) row 4(2-2-4-8) times. Work on the 84(88-90-94-98) sts to 16 inches or desired length from start. Width across sleeve is 12(12½-13-13½-14) inches.

Sleeve Cap: Bind off 4(5-5-6-6)at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 each side every row 5(5-5-5-7) times then every other row until 30 sts rem. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Bind off rem'ing 18 sts.

Neckband: Sew right shoulder seam. With Size 4 needles and Color A - on right side starting at left front, pick up and K 12 sts along side, work across sts on holder as follows: P 1, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across, pick up and K 11 on other side, work in ribbing across holder. Work in ribbing for 8 more rows. Bind off in ribbing.

Left Shoulder Borders: With Size 4 needles and Color A - on right side of left back shoulder, pick up and K 31(33-33-35-35) sts. Work in ribbing for 8 rows. Bind off loosely in ribbing. For front border, work same as on back for 3 rows. Next row work 3(5-5-7-7), * bind off next 2 for buttonhole, work 5 more, repeat from * twice more, bind off next 2, K 1. Next row cast on 2 sts over each buttonhole. Work 3 more rows. Bind off in ribbing. With front border over back border, tack at shoulder. Seam sleeves then sew into armholes. If desired, face shoulder borders with grosgrain ribbon.
