 
        MATERIALS: FLEISHER'S BULKY FLEECE or BEAR BRAND BULKY-KNIT or BOTANY KWILTEE, 2, 2 oz. skeins, or FLEISHER'S, BEAR BRAND or BOTANY SUPER SPUN ORLON SAYELLE, 2, 2 oz. skeins.
KNITTING NEEDLES: 1 pair "Boye" Needles, Size 10½—or size you require to knit to gauge given below.
GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch; 11 rows = 2 inches
Cast on 66 sts for lower edge.
QUAKER ST PATTERN—Purl Rib—wrong side—K 1 row, p 1 row, k 1 row, p 1 row, k 1 row.
    Knit Rib—right side—K 1 row, p 1 row, k 1 row, p  1 row, k 1 row.
  Repeat  purl rib and knit rib once more; repeat purl rib again. There will be 3 purl  ribs and 2 knit ribs on right side. Work stockinette st—k 1 row, p 1 row —for 4  rows, end with p row.
  First dec. row—right side—K 1, * k 2 tog., k 11;  repeat from * to end; 61 sts. Work 3 rows even.
  2nd dec. row—K  1, * k 2 tog., k 10; repeat from * to end; 56 sts. Work 3 rows even.
  Continue  to dec. 5 sts every 4th row 9 times more; always k 1 at beg. of each dec. row  and having 1 st less between decs, and at end of each successive dec. row, end  with 11th dec. row; 11 sts. K 1 row, p 1 row for 5 rows for a purl rib at top  of cap. Break yarn, leaving an 18-in. end. Draw end through remaining 11 sts  leaving sts on strand of yarn.
FINISHING—Block.  Draw up yarn pulling 11 sts at top of cap tightly tog. Fasten securely. Sew  side edges tog. for back seam matching ribs.
  Wind  small ball of yarn 1 in. in diameter and insert in purl rib at top of cap.  Thread a 12-in. piece of yarn in needle and run yarn around last dec. row below  purl rib. Draw up tightly and wind yarn twice around just below purl rib and  tie securely. Fasten off.
