Materials: Chadwick's Red Heart Knitting Worsted, 16 skeins (1¼ oz. skeins).
Milward's Casein knitting pins, 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size) and 1 pair No. 4 (3½ mm. size).
Milward's 16 inch circular knitting pin No. 3 (3 mm. size).

Measurements: Length from top of shoulder—24 inches. Length of sleeve, underarm seam—19 inches.

Gauge: 6 sts make 1 inch; 8 rows make 1 inch.

Front. Starting at bottom, with No. 3 needles cast on 98 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 3½ inches, increasing 8 sts in the last row (106 sts). Change to No. 4 needles and work as follows: 1st row: K 4, * (p 1, k 1) 7 times, k 14. Repeat from * across, ending row with k 4. 2nd row: P 4, (k 1, p 1) 7 times, p 14. Repeat from * across, ending row with p 4. Repeat the last 2 rows 10 more times. 23rd row: (P 1, k 1) twice, * k 14, (p 1, k 1) 7 times. Repeat from * across, ending row with (p 1, k 1) twice. 24th row: (K 1, p 1) twice, * p 14, (p 1, k 1) 7 times. Repeat from * across, ending row with (p 1, k 1) twice. Repeat the last 2 rows 10 more times. Repeat these 44 rows until piece measures 14½ inches.

To Shape Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows. Then bind off 2 sts at beginning of each row, until 84 sts remain. Work in pattern across 1st 35 sts. Bind off next 14 sts (thus starting neck shaping), and continue across remaining 35 sts. Work over these 35 sts only, decreasing 1 st at neck edge every other row and keeping armhole edge straight until 21 sts remain. Work straight until piece measures 8½ inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. To shape shoulder, starting at armhole edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 3 times. Attach yarn at opposite side of neck edge and work to correspond.

Back. Work exactly as for Front, omitting neck shaping. To shape shoulders, bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows. Bind off.

Sleeves. Starting at bottom, with No. 3 needles cast on 48 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 3 inches. Change to No. 4 needles and work as follows: 1st row: (P 1, k 1) twice, * k 14, (p 1, k 1) 7 times. Repeat from * across, ending row with (p 1, k 1) twice. 2nd row: (K 1, p 1) twice, * p 14, (k 1, p 1) 7 times. Repeat from * across, ending row with (k 1, p 1) twice. Hereafter continue in pattern as before, increasing 1 st at both ends of every 10th row, until there are 70 sts on needle. Work straight until piece measures 19 inches. To shape top of sleeve, dec. 1 st at end of each row until 16 sts remain. Bind off.

Sew up underarm and shoulder seams. Sew up sleeve seams and sew sleeves in.

Neck Band. With right side of work toward you, on No. 3 needles pick up 102 sts all around neck edge and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1½ inches. Bind off loosely.
