Infants to Six Months Mittens Pattern #94

REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 1-ounce of Knitting Worsted or 1-ounce of Germantown.
NEEDLES: 1-pr. #3 Single Point.

Starting at the cuff with the #3 needles, cast on 29 sts and work in the moss stitch Pattern.
1st ROW: K 1, p 1, repeat across the row. Repeat row 1 for the pattern. Work in the moss stitch pattern for 1½ inches.

BEADING ROW – K 1 st, * yarn over, knit 2 sts together, repeat from * across the row, ending with yarn over, k 2 sts together. Purl on the next row. Now work in stockinette stitch (k 1 row, p 1 row) until the mitten measures 2¼ inches from the beading.

DECREASES AT THE TIP OF THE MITTEN: 1st dec: * k 3 sts, k 2 sts together, repeat from * across the row ending with k 4 sts. Purl across the next row.
2nd dec: * K 2 sts, k 2 sts together, repeat from * across the row. Bind off all sts. Break the yarn, leaving 10 inches. Thread a sewing needle and fold the mitten in two. Sew across the tip of the mitten and along the side.

MAKE THE OTHER MITTEN THE SAME WAY.

Trim with ribbon as in illustration.
