Sizes: 38, 40, 42 and 44
Materials Required:
  AMERICAN  THREAD COMPANY
  "DAWN"  KNITTING WORSTED
  16  (18, 20, 22) ounces Dk. Gray
  10  (11, 12, 13) ounces White or colors of your choice
  Knitting Needles: 1 pr. each No. 4 and No. 9 or any size needle which will result in stitch gauge  below.
  1  set double pointed needles No. 4.
Gauge: 5 sts = 1 inch; 9 rows = 1 inch.
Directions are given for size 38. Sizes 40, 42 and 44 are given in parentheses.
Back: With Gray and No. 4 needles cast on 102 (106, 110, 114) stitches (sts) and work  in ribbing of Knit (K) 1, Purl (P) 1 for 3 inches increasing 1 st in last row  of ribbing 103 (107, 111, 115) sts, drop Gray. Change to No. 9 needles and work  in pattern as follows:
    1st Row. With White * P 1, slip (sl) 1 with yarn in front, repeat from * across row  ending with P 1 (wrong side).
    2nd Row. With White * P 1, sl 1 with yarn at back, repeat from * across row ending with  P 1, drop White.
    3rd and 4th Rows. Pick up Gray and P each row, drop Gray.
  Repeat  the last 4 rows until Back measures 16 (16, 16½, 17) inches or length desired  to underarm.
Armholes: Bind off 6 (6, 6, 7) sts at beginning of next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st at each end every other row 3 times. Work even on 85 (89, 93, 95) sts until Armhole measures 8½ (9, 9, 9½) inches from 1st bind off.
Shoulders: Next 4 Rows. Bind off 9 (9, 10, 10)  sts at beginning of each row.
    Next 2 Rows. Bind off 9 (10, 9, 10) sts at beginning of each row.
  Bind  off 31 (33, 35, 35) sts for back of Neck.
Front: Work same as Back until Armholes measure 6 inches.
    Next Row. Keeping pattern uniform, work 32 (34, 35, 35) sts.
  Work  and place next 21 (21, 23, 25) sts on a holder for front of Neck. Work across  remaining 32 (34, 35, 35) sts.
  Next Row. Keeping pattern uniform work 32 (34, 35, 35) sts.
  Tie  in another skein of color needed and work across 32 (34, 35, 35) sts.
  Working  both sides at same time, decrease 1 st on each side of Neck edge every other  row 5 (6, 6, 5) times. Work even on 27 (28, 29, 30) sts until front Armholes  measure same as back Armholes. Bind off Shoulders same as Back Shoulders.
Sleeves: On No. 4 needles and Gray cast on 56 (58, 60, 62) sts and work in ribbing of K  1, P 1 for 2 inches increasing 1 st in last row of ribbing.
  Change  to No. 9 needles.
  P  1 row.
  Keeping  pattern uniform, work in pattern same as Back increasing 1 st at each end about  every inch until there are 81 (83, 85, 87) sts on needle.
  Work  even in pattern until Sleeve measures 18½ (18¾, 19, 19¼) inches from beginning  or length desired to underarm, ending with 2nd row of pattern.
  Next 2 Rows. Bind off 5 (5, 6, 6) sts at beginning of each row. * Work 2 rows even in  pattern.
  Next 2 Rows. Keeping pattern uniform, decrease 1 st each side of each row.
  Repeat  from * until 27 (29, 31, 33) sts remain, bind off remaining sts.
Finishing: Block each section. Sew Underarm and Shoulder seams. Sew Sleeve seams and sew Sleeves in position.
Neck Band: With Gray and double pointed needles and right side toward you, pick up and K  114 (116, 118, 120) sts around Neck.
  Work  in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 1 inch, bind off in ribbing.
