GAUGE: With No. 2 needles—8 sts make 1 inch; 10 rows make 1 inch. With No. 4 needles—6 sts make 1 inch; 8 rows make 1 inch.
Blouse is made in 4 individual pieces which are then sewed together.

BACK OF BODY. Starting at bottom with No. 2 needles, cast on 100 sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 5 inches. Change to No. 4 needles and work as before until piece measures 9½ inches. Then, continuing with ribbing, dec. 1 st at both ends of each row until all sts have been worked off (thus forming point at center).

FRONT OF BODY. Work exactly as for Back.

SLEEVE-YOKE. Starting at bottom of sleeve with No. 2 needles, cast on 100 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for ¾ inch. Then work across 1st 40 sts, inc. 1 st in each of next 20 sts, work across remaining 40 sts (120 sts). Change to No. 4 needles and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, until piece measures 10 inches in all. Then work across 1st 40 sts, (k 2 tog.) 20 times, work across remaining 40 sts (100 sts). Change to No. 2 needles and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for ¾ inch. Change to No. 4 needles and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, until piece measures 14½ inches in all. Then bind off 50 sts (front neck edge); work over remaining 50 sts, decreasing 1 st every row at front neck edge (this forms back neck edge) and 2 sts every row at opposite edge (this forms back opening) until all sts are worked off. Make another piece same as this.

Sew up side seams of body. Then, starting at bottom of sleeve, sew a seam 4½ inches long (underarm seam). Place underarm seam to side seam of body, and pin. Point where bound-off sts (forming front neck edge) start should be pinned to front point of body. Point where back neck edge decreases start should be pinned to back point of body. Sew in position, making a ¼ inch seam on wrong side. Sew other sleeve-yoke to body in same manner. Work a row of s c all around back opening, making 4 ch-4 loops along right side. Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonloops.

CORD BELT. Cut 9 strands of yarn, each 6½ yds. long. Twist strands tightly, then double the twisted strands and give them a second twist in the opposite direction. Tie a knot at each end, and trim evenly.
