KNITTING NEEDLES: 1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 10 ½ - OR SIZE YOU REQUIRE TO KNIT TO GAUGE GIVEN BELOW.
1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 8.
"Boye" Non-Inflammable Hook, Size J.
GAUGE: Size 10 ½ Needles - 4 sts = 1 inch; 11 rows = 2 inches

BACK - With size 8 needles, cast on 73 (77-81) sts.

Row 1 - wrong side - p 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 2 - K 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 2 rows until 13 rows from beg., end on wrong side.

Pattern-Row 1 - right side - With size 10 ½ needles, p 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 2 - K 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 3 - K 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 4 - P 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 4 rows until about 13 ins. above ribbing, end with pat. row 3. Mark for underarm.

Raglan Shaping - Bind off 3• sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows.

Next row-P 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Dec. row - K 1, slip, k and pass, k 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to within 3 sts of end, k 2 tog., k 1. Repeat last 2 rows 24 (26-28) times; 17 sts. Place sts on holder for collar. Break yarn.

POCKET LININGS - With size 10 ½ needles, cast on 23 sts. Work pat. for 4 ins., end with pat. row 3. Place sts on holder. Break yarn. Make 2.

LEFT FRONT - With size 8 needles, cast on 43 (45-47) sts. Work ribbing as on back for 13 rows, end at underarm edge.

Pattern - Row 1 - right side - With size 10 ½ needles, p 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to within 8 sts of end, place marker on needle, work 8 sts in ribbing for front border. Carry up marker.

Row 2 - Work 8 sts in ribbing, k 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 3 - K 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to marker, work 8 sts in ribbing.

Row 4 - Work 8 sts in ribbing, p 1, * k 1, p1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 4 rows until 4 ins. above ribbing, end with pat. row 2.

Pocket Opening - Work 6 sts, work 23 sts and place on holder for pocket border, work 14 (16-18) sts.

Next row - Work 14 (16-18) sts, take up and work 23 sts of pocket lining, work 6 sts. Work even until same length as back to underarm, end with p at. row 4.

Raglan Shaping - Work same as on right side of back, end at front edge; 15 sts. Place sts on holder for collar. Do not break yarn.

Mark position of 6 buttons on front border 3 ½ ins. apart, having first button 6 rows from lower edge.

RIGHT FRONT - With size 8 needles, cast on 43 (45-47) sts. Work ribbing as on back for 5 rows, end at front edge.

Buttonhole rows - K 1, p 1, bind off 3 sts, work to end. On next row, cast on 3 sts over buttonhole. Work 6 rows more, end on wrong side.

Pattern-Row 1-right side-With size 10 ½ needles, work 8 sts in ribbing for front border, place marker on needle, p 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end. Carry up marker.

Row 2 - K 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to marker, work 8 sts in ribbing.

Row 3 - Work 8 sts, k 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 4 - P 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to marker, work 8 sts in ribbing. Repeat these 4 rows until 4 ins. above ribbing, repeating buttonhole opposite marker, end with pat. row 2.

Pocket Opening - Work 14 (16-18) sts, work next 23 sts and place on holder for pocket border, work 6 sts. Work to correspond to left front up to armhole, repeating buttonhole opposite markers, end with pat. row 3 at underarm edge. Mark for underarm.

Raglan Shaping - Bind off 3 sts at beg. of next row. Work 2 rows even. Continue raglan shaping same as on left side of back, repeating buttonholes opposite markers, end on right side with a dec. row. Place 15 sts on holder for collar. Break yarn.

SLEEVES - With size 8 needles, cast on 37 (39-41) sts. Work ribbing as on back for 3 ½ ins., end with row 1. With size 10 ½ needles, work pat. as on back, increasing 1 st each side every 1 in. 9 (10-11) times with care to carry out pat. on added sts; 55 (59-63) sts. Work even until 12 ins. above ribbing, end with pat. row 2, Inc. 1 st each side of next row and repeat incs. every 2nd row 3 times; 63 (67-71) sts. Work 2 rows even, end with pat. row 3.

Raglan Shaping - Work same as on back. Place remaining 7 sts on holder for collar. Break yarn.

COLLAR - With size 10 ½ needles, take up 15 sts of right front, 7 sleeve sts, 17 back sts, 7 sleeve sts and 15 sts of left front, having right side of each part toward you; 61 sts. Mark for beg. of collar. Work 14 sts, p 2 tog., work 5 sts, p 2 tog., work 15 sts, p 2 tog., work 5 sts, p 2 tog., work 14 sts; 57 sts.

Pat. row 1 - Work 8 sts in ribbing, p 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to within 8 sts of end, work 8 sts in ribbing. Continue pat. until 5 ½ ins. from beg. of collar, end with pat. row 2. Begin collar border. Remove markers.

Row 1 - K 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 2 - P 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 2 rows 4 times. Bind off in ribbing.

POCKET BORDERS - With size 8 needles, take up 23 sts of left pocket. Join yarn and work ribbing as on lower edge for 7 rows. Bind off in ribbing. Work right border to correspond.

FINISHING - Sew raglan seams. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Sew pocket linings to wrong side of fronts. Sew ends of pocket borders to right side of fronts. Join yarn on lower right front edge, work 1 row sc to edge of collar, working 1 sc in every 2nd row, keeping work flat. Fasten off. Join yarn on left front at collar edge and work 1 row sc to lower edge. Fasten off. Work buttonholes in blanket stitch. Block.
