These directions are for Size 10. Changes for Sizes 12, 14 and 16 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) Main Color (MC)-4(4-4-5) skeins and 1 skein each of Colors 1 and 2 for all Sizes

OR

Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) Main Color (MC)-16(18-18-20) ozs and 4 ozs each of Colors 1 and 2 for all Sizes

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 6-14 inch
Gauge: 5 sts to 1 inch; 7 rows to 1 inch
1 "Boye" Steel Crochet Hook Size 0

BACK: With MC cast on 80(85-90-95) sts. Work in St St for 6 rows, then P 1 row on right side of work for turn of hem. Continue to work in St St until work measures 2 inches from turn of hem. Join Colors 1 and 2. Working in St St and twisting strands when changing Color, follow Chart for Back, working each Size as follows: For Size 10: start at B, then repeat from A to E across, ending with H; for Size 12: start at B, then repeat from A to E across; for Size 14: start at C, then repeat from A to E across, ending with F; for Size 16: start at D, repeat from A to E across, ending with G. When the 27 rows of Chart have been completed, break Color 1 and 2 strands and with MC continue in St St until work measures 12”(12”-12 ½”-12 ½”), or desired length from turn of hem to underarm. To Shape Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 3 times - 64(69-74-79) sts on needle. When armholes measure 1 ½”(2”-2”-2 ½”), measured straight from bound-off sts at underarm, divide sts for back opening as follows: Work across 32(34-37-39) sts, join another ball of yarn, bind off 1 st on Sizes 12 and 16 only, then work across last 32(34-37-39) sts. Working both sides at the same time, work even until armholes measure 7 ½”(8”-8”-8 ½”), measured straight. To Shape Shoulders: Bind off 9(10-11-11) sts at each armhole edge every other row 1(2-2-1) times, then 10(0-0-12) sts at same edge 1 time. Sl rem 13(14-15-16) sts each side onto st holder for back of neck.

FRONT: Work same as Back, omitting back opening, until armholes measure 5 ¾”(6”-6”-6 ¼”) - 64(69-74-79) sts on needle. To Shape Neck: Work across 22(24-26-28) sts, sl center 20(21-22-23) sts onto st holder, join another ball of yarn and work last 22(2426-28) sts. Working both sides at the same time, dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 3(4-4-5) times. When armholes measure same as at Back, To Shape Shoulders: Bind off 9(10-11-11) sts at each armhole edge every other row 1(2-2-1) times, then 10(0-0-12) sts 1 time.

SLEEVES: With MC cast on 53(55-57-59) sts, Work in St St for 6 rows, then P 1 row on right side of work for turn of hem. Continue to work in St St for 1 inch, inc'ing 1 st each side, then inc 1 st each side every 4th row 2 times more - 59 (61-63-65) sts on needle. When work measures 2 inches from turn of hem, join Colors 1 and 2 and work from Chart for Sleeve as follows: for Size 10: start at A, repeat from A to F across, ending with E; for Size 12: start at B, repeat from A to F across; for Size 14: start at C, repeat from A to F across, ending with G; for Size 16: start with D, repeat from A to F across, ending with H. When the 27 rows of Chart have been completed, with MC only continue in St St inc'ing 1 st each each side 1 time - 61(63-65-67) sts on needle. When work measures 13”(13”-13 ½”-13 ½”), or desired length from turn of hem to underarm, To Shape Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row until 23(21-23-23) sts rem. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6(4-4-4) rows. Bind of rem 11(13-15-15) sts.

Sew shoulder seams.

COLLAR: With MC on right side of work, pick up and K 79(81-85-87) sts around neck edge, including sts on st holders. Work in ribbing as follows: Row 1: (Wrong side of work) K 1, *P 1, K 1, repeat from * across row. Row 2: P 1, *K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row. Repeat these 2 rows for 4 ½ inches. Bind off loosely in ribbing. Fold Collar in half to right side, then work 1 row of sc through both thicknesses of Collar and around back opening.

Sew Sleeves in place. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Sew slide fastener in back opening. Turn up hem at lower edge and at sleeve edges and sew in place.
