MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Baby Wool, 2 balls (¾ oz. balls) … Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size) … 1¼ yards of ribbon, ¾ inch wide.

GAUGE: 7½ sts make 1 inch; 10 rows make 1 inch.

   Starting at lower edge of back, cast on 50 sts. Work 6 rows in garter st (k each row). Next row: K across. Following row: K 1, p across to last st, k 1. Repeat last 2 rows until piece measures 6½ inches in all. Cast on 18 sts at beginning of next 2 rows for sleeves. Keeping 4 sts at both ends in garter st, work straight until piece measures 9 inches in all, ending with a k row. Next row: K 4, p 27, k 24, p 27, k 4. Following row: K across. Repeat last 2 rows 2 more times. Next row: K 4, p 27, k 4, bind off next 16 sts for back of neck, k 4, p 27, k 4. Keeping 4 sts at both ends of last set of sts in garter st, work straight for 1 inch. Now inc 1 st inside the front border on each row until piece meas­ures 3 inches from back of neck, end­ing at sleeve edge. Starting at sleeve edge, bind off 18 sts and complete row, making usual increase inside front bor­der. Work side edge straight but con­tinue increases inside front border on each row until there are 50 sts on needle. Work straight until piece meas­ures 6 inches from bound-off sts of sleeve. Work 6 rows of garter st. Bind off. Attach yarn at opposite side of back of neck and work other side to correspond. Sew sleeve and side seams, leaving a 1-inch opening at underarm on right side seam. Cut ribbon in half. Sew one ribbon to edge of left front to correspond to opening in right side seam. Pass this ribbon through open­ing. Sew other ribbon to right front edge. Lap right front over left front and tie ribbons around waist.
