Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" NYLON or NYLON POMPADOUR
5 ozs. White.
1 oz. each Dk. Green and Scarlet or colors of your choice or
"DAWN" SWEATER and SOCK YARN "SANFORLAN" WON’T SHRINK OUT OF FIT
5 ozs. White.
1 oz. each Jockey Green and Red.
1 pr. 14 inch knitting needles No. 3.
1 pr. knitting needles No. 1.
GAUGE: 7 sts = 1 inch. 10 rows = 1 inch.
12 inch zipper.

MEASUREMENTS:
Chest: 11 inches
Width across back at underarm: 11 inches
Side seam: 3 ½ inches
Waist: 20 inches
Length of skirt:11 inches

SKIRT: With White cast on 320 sts.

1st Row. Purl (P) across row.

2nd Row. Knit (K) across row.

Repeat these 2 rows 3 times.

Next Row. K across row.

PATTERN: 1st and 3rd Rows. With White K across each row.

2nd and 4th Rows. P across each row, drop White.

5th Row. Attach Scarlet or Red, K 1, * drop the next stitch (st) for 2 rows, pick up and K corresponding st in 3rd White row below, knitting the 2 strands of yarn in, K 1, repeat from * across row ending with K 2.

6th Row. K across row, drop Scarlet or Red.

Next 4 Rows. Pick up White and repeat first 4 rows of pattern, drop White.

11th Row. Attach Green, K 2, * drop the next st down for 2 rows, pick up and K corresponding st in 3rd White row below knitting the 2 strands of yarn in, K 1, repeat from * across row.

12th Row. K across row, drop Green.

Repeat last 12 rows once, cut Green, then repeat 1st 6 rows once, cut yarn.

Pick up White and work in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row) for 2 rows.

Next Row. * K 14, K 2 together (tog), repeat from * across row. 20 sts decreased. 300 sts on needle.

Work even in stockinette st for 1 inch.

Next Row. * K 13, K 2 tog, repeat from * across row. 20 sts decreased. 280 sts on needle.

Decrease 20 sts in same manner every inch 2 more times always having 1 st less between decreases. 240 sts on needle. Work even in stockinette st until 5 ½ inches from ridge for hem.

Repeat 1st 18 rows of pattern, cut Scarlet or Red and Green. Pick up White and work in stockinette st, decreasing 20 sts in 1st row and every inch 2 more times (180 sts). Work even for 1 inch.

Next Row. Decrease 30 sts evenly spaced. Work even until skirt measures 10 inches or length desired to waistline from ridge for hem. Then work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 1 inch. Bind off loosely in ribbing, cut yarn.

RIGHT HALF OF BACK: With White cast on 35 sts and work in stockinette st increasing 1 st at side edge every ½ inch 5 times (40 sts). Work even until back measures 3 ½ inches ending at side edge.

Next Row. SHAPE ARMHOLE: Bind off 4 sts at beginning of row. Work 1 row even.

Next Row. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of row. Decrease 1 st at side edge every other row 5 times. Work even until armhole measures 4 inches from 1st decreasing point ending at neck edge.

Next Row. SHAPE NECKLINE: Bind off 5 sts at neck edge. Work 1 row even.

Next Row. Bind off 3 sts at neck edge. Work 1 row even.

Repeat last 2 rows once, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times. Work even until back measures 9 inches from beginning. At armhole edge bind off 6 sts every other row twice for shoulder, cut yarn.

LEFT HALF OF BACK: Work same as right half of Back, reversing the shaping and decreasing.

FRONT: Cast on 70 sts and work in stockinette st increasing 1 st on each side every ½ inch 5 times (80 sts). Work even until front measures 3 ½ inches.

Next 2 Rows. SHAPE ARMHOLE: Bind off 4 sts at beginning of each row.

Next 2 Rows. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of each row. Decrease 1 st at beginning of each row 10 times. Work even until front measures 4 ½ inches from beginning at center front. Work across 23 sts, bind off next 10 sts for neck, work across remaining 23 sts.

Next Row. Work across 23 sts, tie in another ball of yarn and work both sides at same time. Bind off at neck edge 3 sts every other row twice, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times. Work even until armhole measures same as back armhole, bind off shoulder same as back shoulder. Block to measurements. Sew shoulder seams.

NECKBAND: With White and No. 1 needles pick up 144 sts and work 2nd through 12th row of pattern same as on Skirt. With White work 6 rows of ribbing, bind off.

ARMHOLE BANDS: With White pick up 92 sts around armhole and work same as neckband. Sew side seams. Sew skirt to waist. Sew back seam leaving opening for zipper, then sew zipper in position. Turn hem at ridge and sew.
