Jack Frost Sport Yarn—4 2-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 4 Needles cast on 81 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 8 Needles increasing to 92 sts. Work in pattern as follows: Row 1—K 8, * K 2nd st on left hand Needle then K the first, lift both sts off tog. K 8, repeat from * across row. Row 2—Purl. Row 3—K 10, * K 2nd st on left hand Needle then K the first, lift both off tog. K 12, repeat from * ending K 10. Row 4—Purl. Row 5—Repeat row 1. Row 6—Purl. Row 7—Knit. Row 8—Purl. Row 9—K 1, * K 2nd st on left hand Needle then K the first, lift both sts off tog. K 8, repeat from * across row ending K 1. Row 10—Purl. Row 11—K 3, * K 2nd st on left hand Needle then K the first, lift both sts off tog., K 12, repeat from * across row ending K 3. Row 12—Purl. Row 13— Repeat row 9. Row 14—Purl. Row 15—Knit. Row 16—Purl. Re­peat above 16 rows until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows for underarm, then 6 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows. Change to No. 4 Needles and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 6 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work as given for back until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 10 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm, then work as follows: Work over 36 sts; place on st-holder. On remaining 36 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every 3rd row to 22 sts. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 5 sts every other row 2 times, then 6 sts every other row 2 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 4 Needles on right side of gar­ment, pick up 64 sts from shoulder to point of V, 1 st at point of V, 64 sts from point of V to left shoulder. Work in ribbing de­creasing 1 st at each side of st at point of V on every row for 6 rows. Bind off decreasing as given above.

Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 4 Needles cast on 71 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 1 in. Change to No. 8 Needles increasing to 78 sts. Work in pattern as given for back until piece measures 4½ in. from lower edge. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times, then every 3rd row 2 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 18 sts remain. Bind off remaining sts.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
