Size 6-7

MATERIALS REQUIRED—American Thread Company "Dawn" Shetland Floss.

7 1-oz. Balls Dark Blue or any color desired.
1 pr. No. 1 Needles—14 inches long.
1 pr. No. 3 Needles—14 inches long.
4 Double pointed needles No. 1 for neck band.

Gauge 15 sts = 2 inches. 20 rows = 2 inches.

Measurements—Length from top of shoulder 15¾ inches.
Side Seam 9½ inches.
Across back or front at underarm 14 inches.
Length of Sleeve Seam 14 inches.

BACK. On No. 1 needles cast on 104 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 2¼ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern.

1st Row—K across row.

2nd Row—K 2, P 4, repeat to end of row ending with K 2.

Repeat pattern until back measures 10 inches from the beginning.

Next 2 Rows—Bind off 5 sts at the beginning of each row.

Next 10 Rows—Bind off 1 st at the beginning of each row then work even until armhole measures 5 inches from 1st decreasing point.

Next 8 Rows—Bind off 6 sts at the beginning of each row and place remaining sts on a st holder.

FRONT. Work same as back until all underarm de­creases have been made then work 41 sts, bind off next 2 sts together, place these sts on a holder, work other shoulder, decreasing one st at neck edge every other row until 24 sts remain. When underarm measures same as back bind off same as back and work other side to correspond.

SLEEVES. On No. 1 needles cast on 62 sts and work in ribbing for 2¼ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and continue sleeve in pattern.

Work 2 inches even, then increase 1 st each end every 6th row 3 times. Work even until sleeve measures 14 inches. Next 2 rows bind off 4 sts at the beginning of each row then bind off 2 sts at the beginning of each row until 8 sts remain, bind off. Press each piece and sew seams.

NECK BAND. With right side of work toward you beginning at left front, pick up one st in center, 39 sts on left front of neck edge on 1st needle, pick up the 36 sts from holder on 2nd needle, 39 sts at right front and one st from center on 3rd needle, turn and K 2, P 2 (ribbing) across row, turn.

Next Row—Work the 1st 2 sts together, 2nd needle even and work the last 2 sts together on 3rd needle keeping ribbing straight, turn and repeat 2nd row always decreasing at beginning and end of each row for ¾ inch. Bind off. Sew center of band together.

For a size 4—cast on 6 less sts than given for front, back and sleeve.

For a size 8-10—Cast on 6 more sts than given for front, back and sleeves and follow same directions making the body of sweater and sleeves the length desired.
