Directions are given for size 14. Sizes 16 and 18 are given in brackets.

BACK: On No. 1 needles cast on 106 (110, 114) sts and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 4 (4, 4) inches. Change to No. 2 needles and work in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row), increasing 21 (25, 29) sts evenly spaced on first row, 127 (135, 143) sts. Work even until back measures 13 (13½, 14) inches from the beginning ending with a P row.
Next 2 Rows—Bind off 8 (8, 8) sts at the beginning of each row. Then decrease 1 st on each side every other row until 103 (111, 119) sts remain. Work even until armhole measures 7¼ (7½ , 7¾) inches from 1st decreasing point ending with a P row.
Next 8 Rows—Bind off 9 (10, 11) sts at the beginning of each row. Bind off remaining 31 (31, 31) sts for back of neck.

POCKET LINING: On a spare No. 2 needle cast on 21 (21, 21) sts and work in stockinette st for 3 inches ending with a P row, leave sts on needle to be used later. Work another section in same manner for right front.

LEFT FRONT: On No. 1 needles cast on 71 (75, 79) sts and work as follows:
1st Row—Work in ribbing over the next 50 (54, 58) sts, K 10, sl next st as if to P, K 10.
2nd Row—P across 21 (21, 21) sts for front edge band, work in ribbing across remaining sts. Repeat last 2 rows for 4 inches ending with 2nd row.
Next Row—Change to No. 2 needles, K and increase 15 sts evenly spaced over next 50 (54, 58) sts, K 10, sl next st as if to P, K 10, 86 (90, 94) sts. Work in stockinette st, slipping the center st of front edge band every K row for remainder of front. Work even until front measures same as back to underarm ending with a P row.
Next Row—Bind off 8 (8, 8) sts at the beginning of row for underarm, then decrease 1 st at armhole edge every other row until 70 (74, 78) sts remain, ending with a P row.
Next Row—K 13 (15, 17) sts, sl next 21 (21, 21) sts on a holder, K across 21 (21, 21) sts from spare needle, work across remaining sts. Work even until armhole measures 5¼ (5½, 5¾) inches from 1st decreasing point ending at neck edge.
Next Row—P across 21 (21, 21) sts and place on a holder, bind off next 5 (5, 5) sts, P across remaining sts. Then bind off 2 sts at neck edge every other row twice, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row until 36 (40, 44) sts remain. Work even until armhole measures same as back armhole, bind off shoulder same as back shoulder.

POCKET BAND: Slip the 21 (21, 21) sts from holder, work­ing from armhole side, work 9 rows in stockinette st ending with a K row. K 1 row. Work 9 more rows in stockinette st, bind off.

RIGHT FRONT: Work same as left front reversing the de­creasing and shaping.

SLEEVES: On No. 1 needles cast on 66 (70, 74) sts and work in ribbing for 4 (4, 4) inches. Change to No. 2 needles and work in stockinette st, increasing 10 sts evenly spaced on first row, 76 (80, 84) sts. Work even increasing 1 st on each side every 6th row until there are 116 (120, 124) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 17 (17½, 18) inches from the beginning or length desired, ending with a P row.
Next 2 Rows—Bind off 8 sts at the beginning of each row, then decrease 1 st on each side every other row until there are 60 (64, 68) sts. Then decrease 1 st on each side every row until 24 (24, 24) sts remain, bind off. Block each section. Sew seams. Sew sleeves in position easing in any fullness. Sew pocket lining in position on wrong side. Fold pocket band on the K row and tack in position.

COLLAR: With right side of work toward you, on No. 2 needles slip and K 21 (21, 21) sts from holder of right front, pick up and K 18 (20, 22) sts on right side of neck, pick up and K 31 (31, 31) sts across back of neck, pick up and K 18 (20, 22) sts on left side of neck, slip and K 21 (21, 21) sts from holder of left front. Work 8 rows in stockinette st, continuing to sl the center st of each front band, ending with a K row. K 1 row.
Next 2 Rows—Working in stockinette st, bind off 11 sts at the beginning of each row. Work 7 rows even, bind off.
Fold collar on the K row and sew to neck edge. Fold front bands along the sl st line to inner side and sew in position.

EDGE: With right side of work toward you, attach Black in 1st slip st at lower edge of right front, s c in same space, * ch 3, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in next st of ch, skip 2 sl sts, s c in next sl st, repeat from * up front, across collar and down left front, cut yarn. Work same edge around each cuff and each pocket band.

BUTTON LOOPS: With Black, ch 10, cut yarn. Work 9 more loops in same manner. Sew 5 loops on each side at lower edge having loops about 1½ inches apart. Sew buttons in position on each side about ½ inch in from loops. Interlace loops to button.
