Cap Pattern

Sizes 1—2 and 3 Yrs.

MATERIALS:
1 Pr. Size 9 Standard Knitting Needles
½ Skein 4-ply Knitting Worsted

GAUGE: 4½ sts to 1 in.

With size 9 needles cast on 67 sts (2 yr. 73 sts—3 yr. 79 sts). Work in seed st of K 1, P 1 (always working a knit st over a purl st on each row) for 11 rows. P 1 row, K 1 row, for 2 rows (2 and 3 yr. 4 rows).
Work 2 rows of seed st then P 1 row, K 1 row for 3 rows (2 and 3 yr. 5 rows), then start decreasing as follows: * K 9, (2 yr. K 10—3 yr. K 11), K 2 tog.; repeat from * across row ending K 1.
Row 2 and all even rows—Purl.
Row 3—* K 8 (2 yr. K 9—3 yr. K 10), K 2 tog.; repeat from * ending K 1.
Row 5—* K 7 (2 yr. K 8—3 yr. K 9), K 2 tog.; repeat from * ending K 1.
Continue decreasing 6 sts every other row as given, until there are 7 sts left on the needle. K 2 tog. across row ending K 1. Draw remaining sts tog. Fasten off.
Sew seam. Trim with pom-pom as illustrated.
