Cap Pattern

Sizes 1—2 and 3 Yrs.

MATERIALS:
1 Pr. Size 9 Standard Knitting Needles
2 oz. 4-ply Knitting Worsted

GAUGE: 5 sts to 1 in.

Cast on 66 sts (2 yr. 72 sts—3 yr. 78 sts). K 15 rows (2 and 3 yr. 19 rows). K 1 row, P 1 row, then working in garter st, start decreasing as follows: Row 1—K 10 (2 yr. K 11—3 yr. K 12), * K 2 tog., K 9 (2 yr. K 10—3 yr. K 11); repeat from * ending K 2 tog., K 10 (2 yr. K 11—3 yr. K 12).
Rows 2 and 3—Knit.
Row 4—K 9, (2 yr. K 10—3 yr. K 11), * K 2 tog., K 8 (2 yr. K 9—3 yr. K 10); repeat from * ending K 2 tog., K 10 (2 yr. K 11—3 yr. K 12). Continue decreasing 5 sts every 3rd row at even intervals as given until 6 sts remain (2 yr. 7 sts—3 yr. 8 sts). Draw remaining sts tog. and fasten off. Sew seam. With double strands of yarn, ch 6. Attach to tip of cap.

TASSEL: Wind yarn around a 4 in. piece of cardboard 10 times. Draw yarn through one end. Tie well. Remove from cardboard. About 1 in. from tied end, wrap a strand of yarn around tassel 2 times. Fasten off. Trim other end and attach to end of the ch of 6.
