Pointed Cap Pattern

Sizes 1—2 and 3 Yrs.

MATERIALS:
1 Pr. Size 9 Standard Knitting Needles
Size 8 Crochet Hook
2 oz. 4-ply Knitting Worsted

GAUGE: 4½ sts to 1 in.

Cast on 64 sts (2 and 3 yr. 68 sts). K 4 rows then work in pattern as follows:
Row 1—K 2, * P 3 tog., K 1, P 1, K 1, all in next st; repeat from * across row ending K 2.
Rows 2 and 4—K 2, P 60 (2 and 3 yr. P 64), K 2.
Row 3—K 2, * K 1, P 1, K 1, all in next st; P 3 tog.; repeat from * across row ending K 2. Repeat above 4 rows once then work in garter st for 24 rows (2 yr. 26 rows—3 yr. 28 rows).
Continuing garter st, bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 12 rows. Bind off remaining sts. Fold cap across center and sew back seam.
On right side of cap, pick up 46 sts (2 yr. 50 sts—3 yr. 54 sts) across neck edge. K 2, * Y O, K 2 tog., repeat from * ending K 2. K 4 rows working the Y O as a st on first row. Bind off.

TIE STRING: Using about 6 yds of yarn, ch 80. Fasten off. Draw through beading across neck edge. Trim ends of string with Pom-Poms as illustrated.
