CARRIAGE COVER: With No. 4 Needles and Knitting Worsted, cast on 166 sts. K 28 rows. Work pattern as follows: Row 1— K. Row 2—K 20, P across, K last 20 sts. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 twice. Row 7—K 20 *, Y.O., K 2 tog; repeat from * across row, K last 20 sts. Row 8—K. Repeat these 8 rows until piece measures 28 inches. K 28 rows. Bind off.
PILLOW: With No. 4 Needles and Knitting Worsted, cast on 88 sts. K 28 rows. K 14 sts on beginning and end of each row while working pattern, until piece measures 10½ inches. K 28 rows. Bind off.
SWEATER: With No. 2 Needles and Sport Yarn, cast on 132 sts. K 6 rows. Make a buttonhole as follows: K 2 sts, bind off next 2 sts, work across. Next Row—Cast on 2 sts over bound off sts. Make a buttonhole every 2 inches. K 6 rows. Change to No. 4 Needles. Work pattern as follows: Row 1—K. Row 2—K 6, P across K last 6 sts. Row 3—K. Row 4—K 6, P across, K last 6 sts. Row 5—K 6 *, Y.O., K 2 tog; repeat from *, K last 6 sts. Row 6—K. Repeat these 6 rows once. Keep 6 sts in garter st at beginning and end of each row. Work stockinette st until piece measures 7½ inches. Work over 30 sts, bind off next 8 sts, work over next 56 sts, bind off next 8 sts. Over last 30 sts, K 1 P 1 for 3 inches, keeping 6 sts in garter st for border. Bind off 12 sts on neck. Work 1½ inches. Bind off. Over 1st 30 sts, work to correspond. Over 56 sts, K 1 P 1 for 4½ inches. Bind off. Sleeves: Cast on 36 sts. K 1 P 1 for 2 inches. Next Row—Increase 8 sts at even intervals. Work stockinette st, increasing 1 st on each side every inch until sleeve measures 7 inches. Bind off 4 sts at beginning of each row until 14 sts remain. Bind off. Sew shoulders and sew in sleeves.
Collar: On right side of garment, pick up 64 sts on neck edge. K 6 sts at beginning and end of each row. Work 1 inch. Work pattern twice. K 8 rows. Bind off.
CAP: With No. 2 Needles and Sport Yarn, cast on 120 sts. K 4 rows. Work stockinette st for 1 inch. Decrease to 70 sts in 1 row. K 1 P 1 for 2½ inches. Starting on wrong side—Row 1, K—Row 2, P. Repeat these 2 rows for 3½ inches. Bind off 24 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. On remaining sts, K 1 P 1 for 5½ inches. Bind off. Sew sides of this 5½ inch piece to bound off sts at each end. Turn front back across center of ribbing. Pick up 48 sts across neck edge. K 1 P 1 for 6 rows. Bind off.
BOOTIES: With No. 2 Needles and Sport Yarn, cast on 36 sts. K 12 rows. Next Row—* K 2 tog., Y.O., repeat from * across row. P 1 row. K 1 row. Next Row—*K 2 tog., Y.O.; repeat from * to end of row. Work stockinette st until piece measures 3 inches. Work over 12 sts. With separate needle, work over next 12 sts for 16 rows. Pick up 8 sts on each side of last 16 rows. Place all sts on 1 needle. K 16 rows. Bind off. Sew bottom and back seams. Make a loose ch 14 inches long and lace thru as illustrated. Trim with tassels at each end.
