CARRIAGE COVER: With No. 4 Needles and Knitting Worsted, cast on 152 sts. Pattern: Row 1—* K 8 P 8; repeat from * across row, ending with K 8. Row 2—* P 8 K 8; repeat from * across row, ending with P 8. Repeat rows 1 and 2 three times. Row 9—* P 8 K 8; repeat from * across row, ending with P 8. Row 10—* K 8 P 8; repeat from * across row, ending with K 8. Repeat rows 9 and 10 three times. Repeat these 16 rows until cover measures 32 inches. Bind off.
Border—With No. 4 crochet hook, work 1 row of sc around entire cover.
Edging: * Skip 2 sts, 6 tr c in 3rd st, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st; repeat from * around entire cover, skipping only 1 st at comers. Fasten off.
PILLOW: With No. 4 Needles and Knitting Worsted, cast on 72 sts. Work pattern for 11 inches. Bind off. Work border and edging same as on cover.
SWEATER: With No. 2 Needles and Sport Yarn, cast on 68 sts. K for 12 rows. Pattern: Row 1—K 4 P 4 across row, ending with K 4. Row 2—P 4 K 4 across row, ending with P 4. Repeat rows 1 and 2. Row 5—P 4 K 4 across row, ending with P 4. Row 6—K 4 P 4 across row, ending with K 4. Repeat rows 5 and 6. Work this pattern until piece measures 8 inches. Cast on 36 sts at beginning of next 2 rows for sleeves. Continue pattern over both sleeves and back for 3½ inches. Work over 58 sts, bind off next 24 sts. On remaining 58 sts work for 1 inch. Cast on 16 sts at neck edge. Keep 1st 6 sts at neck edge in garter st for buttonhole band. Remaining sts work in pattern. Work 4 rows, then make 1st buttonhole as follows: K 2 sts, bind off next 2 sts, work across. Work back, casting on 2 sts over bound off sts. Repeat buttonhole every 2 inches. Work 3 inches from cast on 16 sts, bind off 36 sts for sleeve, and continue in pattern until front measures same as back from underarm, ending with K 12 rows. Bind off. Work other side to correspond, omitting buttonholes.
Cuff: On right side of sleeve, pick up 32 sts, K 18 rows. Bind off.
Collar: On right side of jacket, pick up 60 sts across neck (including bands). K 1st and last 6 sts in garter st, center in pattern, for 2½ inches, K 10 rows. Bind off. Sew underarm and side seams.
CAP: With No. 2 Needles and Sport Yarn, cast on 68 sts, K 12 rows. Work pattern until piece measures 5½ inches, bind off 24 sts at beginning of next 2 rows, work on remaining sts for 4½ inches. K 2 tog. for 1 row. Bind off. Sew sides of 4½ inch piece to bound off sts at each side. Pick up 48 sts across neck edge, K 1 P 1 for 1 inch. Bind off.
Ruffle: Pick up each st of last row of K in front. Next Row—Increase 1 st in each st. K 10 rows. Bind off.
BOOTIES: With No. 2 Needles and Sport Yarn, cast on 36 sts, K 12 rows. Work pattern until piece measures 3½ inches. K over 12 sts. With separate needles, work back and forth in pattern over the next 12 sts for 2 inches. Pick up 8 sts on each side of the 2 inch piece. Place all sts on 1 needle. K 16 rows and bind off. Sew up sole and back seams. Make a loose ch 14 inches long and lace thru as illustrated. Trim with tassels at each end.
