RIGHT MITTEN: Cast on 37 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 15 rows. Work beading on next row as follows: * K 1, Y O, K 2 tog.; repeat from * across row. K 1, P 1, for 2 rows, then work in pattern as follows: Row 1—Knit 18, increase 1 st in next st, K 18. Row 2—* K 1, P 2; repeat from * 5 times, P next 2 sts for thumb gusset, * P 2, K 1; repeat from * 5 times. Row 3—K 18, increase 1 st in each of next 2 sts, K 18. Row 4—K 1, P 2, over the first 18 sts, P 4; P 2, K 1, over remaining 18 sts. Row 5—K 18, increase 1 st in next st, K 2, increase 1 st in next st, K 18. Row 6—K 1, P 2, over the first 18 sts, P 6; P 2, K 1, over remaining 18 sts. Row 7—K 18, increase 1 st in next st, K 4, increase 1 st in next st, K 18. Row 8—K 1, P 2, over the first 18 sts, P 8; P 2, K 1, over remaining 18 sts. Row 9—K 18, increase 1 st in next st, K 6, increase 1 st in next st, K 18. Continue increasing every other row until there are 12 sts in thumb gusset. Divide work for thumb as follows: K 19; place on st-holder. K across next 10 sts for thumb. Place remaining 19 sts on 2nd st-holder. Work back and forth in stockinette st on the 10 thumb sts for 6 rows. Decrease tip of thumb as follows: Row 1—P 2 tog. across row. Row 2—K 2 tog. twice, K 1. Draw remaining sts tog. and fasten off. Sew thumb seam.
   Place sts from first st-holder to Needle. Attach yarn. Place sts from 2nd st-holder to left hand Needle. K the first 2 sts tog, on left hand Needle then K across row. Work even in pattern until piece measures 1¾ in. from base of thumb or desired length. Decrease tip of mitten as follows: Row 1—K 1, * K 2 tog., K 1; repeat from * across row. Row 2—P 2 tog. across row ending P 1. Row 3—K 2 tog. across row ending K 1. Draw remaining sts tog. and fasten off. Sew side seam. Draw ribbon through beading as illustrated.
   Work left mitten to correspond.
