Main Color—5 2-oz. Balls; Contrasting Color—1 2-oz. Ball
BACK: With No. 2 Needles and main color, cast on 99 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3 in. Change to No. 4 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 112 sts. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 2 Needles increasing to 39 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.
FRONT: Work as given for back until all sts have been bound off at underarm. P 1 row then work in pattern as on chart being sure to twist yarns when changing colors. When piece measures 5 in. from underarm and pattern has been completed, work over 28 sts, place on st-holder. Bind off next 36 sts for front of neck. On remaining 28 sts, work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.
FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 75 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.
SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles cast on 75 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 1 in. Change to No. 4 Needles increasing to 79 sts. Work in stockinette st until piece measures 4½ in. from lower edge. Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times, then every 4th row 2 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 21 sts remain. Bind off remaining sts.
Sew shoulder and underarm seams. Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
