MATERIALS REQUIRED—American Thread Company "Dawn" Germantown Wool.
4 Balls, White, Solid or Shaded Colors.
4 Double Pointed Steel Knitting Needles No. 12.
Cast on 3 needles 48 sts (16-16-16) and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 2½ inches (Cuff).
Next Round—Begin spiral pattern. K 4, P 4 for 3 rounds.
*Next Round—K 5 once then P 4, K 4 to end of round, ending with P 3 and P 1 st from next needle.
Work 2 more rounds of K 4, P 4. Repeat from *, moving pattern 1 st in every 3rd round until sock measures 17 inches or is length desired (complete a pattern).
TOE—1st Decreasing Round—K 1, K 2 together, K 2, P 4 * K 1, K 2 together, K 1, P 4, repeat from * all around, K 3, P 4 for 2 rounds.
2nd Decreasing Round—K 4 (this moves a pattern) P 1, P 2 together, P 1, * P 3, P 1, P 2 together, P 1, repeat from * all around. K 3, P 3 for 2 rounds.
3rd Decreasing Round—K 1, K 2 together, K 1, P 3, * K 2 together, K 1, P 3, repeat from * all around and K 2, P 3 for 2 rounds.
4th Decreasing Round—K 3, P 2 together, P 1, * K 2, P 2 together, P 1, repeat from * all around and K 2, P 2 for 2 rounds.
Next Round—K 1, * slip 1, K 1, pass sl st over K st, K 2, repeat from * all around and K 1 round even.
Next Round—K 1, * sl 1, K 1, pass sl st over K st, K 1, repeat from * all around and K 1 round even. K 2 sts together until 6 sts remain, break yarn leaving a length to fasten. Thread into a worsted needle, draw through all sts twice and fasten firmly. These socks may also be made of "Dawn" Knitting Worsted.
