No. 3710—SWEATER—Back—With No. 3½ needles cast on 94 sts., K. 1 st., P. 1 st., (ribbing) for 3½ inches. Change to No. 4½ needles and work in Stockinette st. for 12 inches.

Bind off 5 sts. at the beginning of the next 2 rows for underarm, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 8 times (68 sts. remaining).

Work even until armholes measure 8 inches, then K. 21, bind off 26 sts. for back of neck and on remaining 21 sts. start left shoulder. Decrease 1 st. every other row at neck end 2 times and on 19 sts. work 4 rows even, then increase 1 st. at neck end every other row 2 times, ending with P. row.

Work right shoulder to correspond, ending with K. row. Cast on 26 sts., join to left shoulder and work front, increasing for armholes same as back. Finish front to correspond with back.

SLEEVES—With No. 4½ needles pick up and K. 30 sts. across top of shoulder, P. 1 row.

Pick up 3 sts. at end of every row until all sts. are picked up around armhole (90 sts.).

Decrease 1 st. each side every 6th row until 48 sts. remain, then work even until sleeve measures 18 inches or desired length. Change to No. 3½ needles and work in ribbing for 3½ inches, bind off.

NECK—With No. 3½ needles pick up 38 sts. across back of neck, K. 1 st., P. 1 st., ribbing for 8 inches, bind off.

Pick up 44 sts. across front of neck, work in ribbing same as back. Sew seams at sides, sew underarm seams.

No. 3710A—CAP—Cast on 100 sts. on 3 needles, join, K. 1 st., P. 1 st., (ribbing) for 3 inches, then K. 3 inches. Now start to decrease as follows: * K. 7 sts., K. 2 sts. together, repeat from * across row.

K. 6 rows even. * K. 6 sts., K. 2 sts. together, repeat from * across row. K. 5 rows even.

* K. 5 sts., K. 2 together, repeat from * across row. K. 4 rows. K. 4 sts., K. 2 sts. together, across row. K. 3 rows. K. 4 sts., K. 2 together, across row. K. 3 rows. K. 3 sts., K. 2 sts. together, across row, K. 2 rows. K. 2 sts., K. 2 sts. together, across row. K. 1 row, K. 2 sts. together, across row, draw remaining sts. together.

No. 3710B—GLOVES—Cast on 44 sts., 16 sts. on each of two needles and 12 sts. on third needle, join, K. 1 st., P. 1 st., (ribbing) for 3 inches, then K. plain for 5 rows. On next row increase by K. 2 sts. in last st. of round (beginning thumb). K. 3 rows even. On 10th row K. to last 3 sts. of round, K. 2 sts. in first st., K. 1 st., K. 2 sts. in last st.

Continue to increase 2 sts. in gusset every 4th round, until there are 15 sts. more in gusset.

Put these 15 sts. on a strand of yarn for thumb.

Cast on 5 sts. over the thumb sts. and work even for 2 inches.

FIRST FINGER—Cast on 2 sts. on end of 3rd needle, slip remaining sts. together with first 3 sts. of 3rd needle on a strand of yarn. Divide 16 remaining sts. on 3 needles. Work for 2½ inches.

Work 5th and 6th st. together twice. One round plain. K. every 3rd and 4th st. together.

Next round—K. 2 together to end; draw yarn through remaining sts. Draw tightly, fasten.

SECOND FINGER—Take first 6 sts. from strand, cast on 2 sts., take last 7 sts. from strand and pick up 2 sts. on side of first finger, (17 sts.). Work 2¾ inches. Decrease same as first finger, (17 sts.).

THIRD FINGER—Like first finger, picking up 2 sts. on side of 2nd finger, 6 on palm, cast on 2, and take up 6 last sts. from strand.

FOURTH FINGER—Use remaining sts. and pick up 4 sts. on side of 3rd finger. Work 1½ inches. One round—work 4th and 5th st. together. One round even. Work 3rd and 4th st. together. Then one round, work 2 sts. together. Finish like first finger.

THUMB—Place the 15 sts. on needles and pick up 5 sts. on cast on sts. Work even, knitting 2 sts. together twice on picked up sts. for 2 rounds. On remaining 16 sts. work even 1¾ inches. Finish same as first finger.
