Gored Skirt Pattern #570

Size 14 Years

Materials: Chadwick's Red Heart Germantown Zephyr, 11 balls (1 oz. balls).
Milward's circular knitting pin No. 4 (3½ mm. size).
3 snap fasteners.
28 inches of belting.

Gauge: 6 sts make 1 inch; 7 rows make 1 inch.

Starting at bottom, cast on 294 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. 1st rnd: * K 45, then, into next st make: k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1; k 54, then into next st make: k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1; k 45, then into next st make: k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1. Repeat from * around. 2nd rnd: * K 45, p 5, k 54, p 5, k 45, p 5. Repeat from * around. 3rd rnd: * K 45, k 5 tog., k 54, k 5 tog., k 45, k 5 tog. Repeat from * around. 4th rnd: K around (6 panels in all). These 4 rnds constitute the pattern. Repeat these 4 rnds for 3 inches. Then dec. 1 st in each panel on next rnd and every 7th rnd thereafter for 14 times, but do not have decreases fall over those of previous decrease rnd (210 sts). Work straight until piece measures 19 inches. Then dec. 1 st in each panel on next rnd, and every 6th rnd thereafter, 7 times (168 sts) but, when piece measures 21 inches, turn, and work in rows instead of rnds (thus forming a side opening), until piece measures 25 inches or length desired. Bind off. Sew belting to waistline. Sew snap fasteners along opening. To make ridges more prominent with needle and yarn work a running stitch as if making a tuck.
