KNITTING NEEDLES: 1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 6 – OR SIZE YOU REQUIRE TO KNIT TO GAUGE GIVEN BELOW.
1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 4 for facings and Collar ribbing.
GAUGE: Size 6 Needles - 11 sts = 2 inches

BACK - With size 4 needles and A, cast on 101 (107-119) sts for facing. P 1 row, k 1 row for 16 rows. K 1 row from wrong side, inserting needle in back of sts for turning ridge. Break A.

Pattern - Row 1 - right side - With size 6 needles and B, k 4, * carrying yarn loosely at front of work, slip 3 as to p, k 3; repeat from *, end last repeat k 4. Break B.

Row 2 - With A, p.

Row 3 - Knit.

Row 4 - Purl. Break A.

Row 5 - With B, k 1, carrying yarn loosely at front of work, slip 3 sts as to p, k 1, * insert right needle from top under the B loop in 4th row below and slip loop to left needle, inserting needle in back of sts, k B loop and next st tog.; thus twisting the B loop, k 1, carrying yarn loosely at front, slip 3 sts as to p, k 1 * ; repeat between *'s to end. Break B.

Rows 6, 7 and 8 - Same as rows 2, 3 and 4. Break A.

Row 9 - With B, k 2; repeat between *'s of row 5, end last repeat k 2. Break B.

Repeat last 8 rows twice. Repeat rows 2, 3 and 4 once again.

Row 29 - With C, k 5, * k the B loop in 4th row below tog. with next st as before, k 5 *; repeat between *'s to end.

With C, p 1 row, k 1 row for 7 rows. Break C.

Row 37 - With A, k. Break A.

With B, p 1 row, k 1 row for 8 rows. Break B.

With A, p 1 row. Break A.

With C, k 1 row, p 1 row for 8 rows. Break C. Repeat these 54 rows for pat. Work even in pat. until about 17 ¼ ins. above turning ridge, end with pat. row 12. Mark for underarm.

Armholes - Continuing pat., bind off 6 sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows. Dec. 1 st each side every 2nd row 6 (6-9) times, with care to carry out pat.; 77 (83-89) sts. Work even until about 7 ins. above marker, end on wrong side with pat. row 8.

Divide for Neck - Work 24 (26-28) sts; place next 29 (31-33) sts on holder for neck and remaining 24 (26-28) sts on holder for left side. Continue pat., with care to carry out pat., decreasing 1 st at neck edge every 2nd row 4 times; 20 (22-24) sts. Work even until 8 ¼ (8 ½-8 ¾) ins. above marker, end at armhole edge.

Shoulder Shaping - Bind off 5 (4-6) sts at beg. of next row. Bind off 5 (6-6) sts at beg. of each of next 3 rows worked from armhole edge, with care to carry out pat. Beg. at neck edge, work left side to correspond to right side.

FRONT - With size 4 needles and A, cast on 101 (107-119) sts. Work same as back. Sew shoulder seams.

SLEEVES - With size 4 needles and A, cast on 47 sts. Work facing and turning ridge as on back. Break A. With size 6 needles, work first 16 rows of pat. Break B. With C, k 2, repeat between *'s of pat. row 29, end last repeat k 2.

Inc. row - P, increasing 16 (18-20) sts evenly spaced across row; 63 (65-67) sts. Beg. with pat. row 31, inc. 1 st each side; 65 (67-69) sts. Continue pat., increasing 1 st each side every 8th row 8 times; 81 (83-85) sts. Work even until about 15 ½ ins. above turning ridge, end with pat. row 12. Bind off 6 sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows. Dec. 1 st each side every 2nd row 17 (18-19) times; 35 sts. Continue pat., decreasing 1 st each side every row 12 times; 11 sts. Bind off.

BACK HALF OF COLLAR - Beg. at right shoulder seam, from right side, with size 6 needles and A, pick up and k 20 (21-22) sts on side edge of neck, take up and work 29 (31-33) sts of neck, twisting the B sts as before, pick up and k 20 (21-22) sts on side edge of neck to shoulder seam; 69 (73-77) sts.

Row 1 - K 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 2 - P 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 3 - Same as row 1.

Continuing ribbing, dec. 1 st at end of each of next 16 rows; 53 (57-61) sts. Work 3 rows even.

Continuing ribbing, inc. 1 st at end of each of next 16 rows; 69 (73-77) sts. Work 3 rows even.

Bind off in ribbing

FRONT HALF OF COLLAR - Work same as back half.

FINISHING - Weave in all ends on wrong side. Sew underarm and sleeve seams, matching pat. stripes. Sew in sleeves with seam at underarm seam, matching pat. stripes. Turn under facings and hem on wrong side. Sew collar seams. Block.
