MATERIALS: BOTANY KWILTEE, 2 oz. skeins.

KNITTING NEEDLES: 1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 10 ½ -0R SIZE YOU REQUIRE TO KNIT TO GAUGE GIVEN BELOW.
1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 6 for Cuffs and Waistband.
"Boye" Non-Inflammable Hook, Size I.
GAUGE: Size 10 ½ Needles - 4 sts = 1 inch

BACK-With size 6 needles, cast on 73 (77-81) sts.

Row 1 - wrong side - p 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 2 - k 1, * 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 2 rows until about 3 ¾ ins, from beg., end on right side.

Inc. row - wrong side - Work ribbing for 19 (21-23) sts, inc. 1 st in next st, work ribbing for 41 sts, inc. 1 st in next st, work ribbing to end; 75 (79-83) sts.

Cable Pattern - Row 1 - Cable twist - With size 10 ½ needles, work 10 (12-14) sts in ribbing, * slip next 6 sts to hook, hold at back of work, k next 6 sts, k sts from hook *, work next 31 sts in ribbing, repeat between *'s once, work 10 (12-14) sts in ribbing.

Row 2 - Work 10 (12-14) sts in ribbing, p 12, work 31 sts in ribbing, p 12, work 10 (12-14) sts in ribbing.

Row 3 - Work 10 (12-14) sts, k 12, work 31 sts, k 12, work 10 (12-14) sts. Repeat last 2 rows 7 times.

Row 18 - Same as row 2.

Repeat these 18 rows for pat. Work even in pat. until about 10 ins. above ribbing, end with pat. row 1. Mark for underarm.

Armholes - Bind off 4 (5-6) sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows; 67 (69-71) sts. Work even until armholes measure 7 ½ (7 ¾-8) ins., end on right side.

Shoulder Shaping - Bind off 6 (0-8) sts at beg. of each of next 2 (0-2) rows; 7 sts at beg. of each of next 4 (6-4) rows; 27 sts.

Back Neck Ribbing - Inc. row - With size 6 needles, work 3 sts, * inc. 1 st in next st, work 3 sts; repeat from * to end; 33 sts.

Next row - Work k 1, p 1 ribbing across row. Continue ribbing until 1 ½ ins. above inc. row. With size 10 ½ needles, work even in ribbing until 5 ½ ins. above inc. row. Bind off in ribbing.

FRONT - With size 6 needles, cast on 73 (77-81) sts. Work same as back until armhole measures about 5 ½ (5 ¾-6) ins. above marker, end on wrong side; 67 (69-71) sts.

Divide for Neck - Work 20 (21-22) sts, place on holder for left side, work 27 sts, place on holder for neck, work 20 (21-22) sts. Work even on sts of right side until same length as back to shoulder, end at armhole edge. Shape shoulder same as left shoulder on back. Beg. at neck edge, work left side to correspond to right side, shaping shoulder same as right shoulder on back. Do not break yarn. Sew shoulder seams.

FRONT NECK RIBBING - With size 6 needles, pick up and k 15 sts on left side of neck, take up and work 27 sts of neck, pick up and k 15 sts on right side of neck; 57 sts.

Next row - wrong side - Work same as row 1 of ribbing on lower edge of back.

Work same as for back neck ribbing until same number of rows above inc. row.

Short rows - Row 1 - Work 54 sts, turn.

Row 2 - Slip first st as to p, work 50 sts, turn.

Row 3 - Slip first st as top, work 47 sts, turn.

Row 4 - Slip first st as to p, work 44 sts, turn.

Continue to work 3 sts less every row for 14 rows more.

Row 19 - Turn, slip 1, work 2 sts. Break yarn and slip 27 sts from left needle to right needle; 57 sts. Join yarn and bind off in ribbing.

SLEEVES - With size 6 needles, cast on 37 (39-41) sts. Work ribbing as for back until 3 ¾ ins. from beg., end on wrong side. With size 10 ½ needles, continuing ribbing, inc. 1 st each side of next row; repeat incs. every 6th row 0 (3-7) times; every 8th row 8 (6-3) times, with care to work increased sts in ribbing; 55 (59-63) sts. Work even until 17 ins. from beg. Bind off 4 (5-6) sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows. Dec. 1 st each side every 2nd row 6 (7-8) times. Bind off 2 sts at beg. of each of next 6 rows. Bind off 23 sts.

FINISHING - Sew seams, sewing part of cuff and collar for turn-over, on wrong side. Sew in sleeves with seam at center underarm. Block.
