BLOUSE: PATTERN—
Row 1—K. 1, P. 1, across row.
Row 2—Knit (right side of work).

Row 4—Knit.
These 4 rows form pattern. Entire jacket is worked in pattern on M.M. No. 3 Needles and White Germantown.
Back—Cast on 91 sts. and work even for 5 inches. Increase 1 st. each side, then increase 1 st. each side every inch 3 more times, then every ½ inch 6 times (111 sts. on needle). When work measures 13 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 8 times. When work measures 7 inches straight up from bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 4 rows, then 6 sts. at the beginning of each of the following 4 rows. Bind off remaining 29 sts.
Right Front—Cast on 49 sts. and work even in pattern for 5 inches. Increase 1 st. at underarm side then increase 1 st. on this side every inch 3 more times, then every ½ inch 6 times. When work measures 13 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. at underarm side, then decrease 1 st. at this side every other row 11 times. When work measures 5½ inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. at neck edge, then decrease 1 st. every row at neck edge 8 times. When armhole measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. On shoulder edge every other row 2 times, then 6 sts. every other row 2 times.
Left Front—Work to correspond to Right Front.
Sleeves—Cast on 52 sts. and work even for 2 inches. Increase 1 st. each side, then increase 1 st. each side every 1½ inches 6 more times, then every inch 6 times. When work measures 18 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. each side for underarm (64 sts. remaining). Decrease 1 st. each side every other row 15 times, then every row 11 times. Bind off remaining 12 sts.
Sew shoulder seams, sew sleeves in place, sew underarm and sleeve seams. Work 1 row S. C. around all edges. With brown silk cord lace front as illustrated.
Scarf—Always change colors on right edge. With M. M. No. 5 Crochet Hook and double strand Chestnut Modeen, Ch. 108, Ch. 1, turn. Working in back of each st. for entire scarf, work in S. C. On right edge increase 1 st. every other row 23 times. On left edge increase 7 sts. every other row 5 times, then work over to right edge (11 rows Chestnut). Change to Limerick Green and working with a double strand, work even on left edge (continuing increases on right edge) for 4 rows. Change to single strand of White Germantown and work for 16 rows. Change to double strand of Limerick Green and work for 4 rows. Change to Chestnut Modeen (double strand) and work for 3 rows. Then decrease 7 sts. on left edge every other row 5 times. Fasten yarn. Work 1 row S. C. around scarf.
GLOVES: Cuffs—With M. M. No. 5 Crochet Hook and double strand of Chestnut Modeen Ch. 49 (48 S. C.), turn. Working in back of every st. work in S. C. Work 6 rows double Chestnut, 4 rows double Limerick Green Modeen, 10 rows single White Germantown, 4 rows double Limerick Green and 6 rows double Chestnut Modeen, decreasing 1 st. each side every 3rd row 10 times. Fasten yarn.
Hands—With No. 12 Double Pointed Needles, cast on 60 sts., having 20 sts. on each of 3 needles. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Working around needles in plain knitting for entire hand, work 1¼ inches even. On first needle, K. 6, put marker on needle, increase in next st., K. 6, increase in next st., put marker on needle, K. last 6 sts. K. to end of 2nd needle, increase in last st., K. 3rd needle even. Increase directly after first marker and before 2nd marker every 3rd row 6 more times, and in last st. on 2nd needle every 3rd row 9 more times. At the same time, when work measures 2¾ inches from start, place the 22 sts. between markers on a thread, cast on 4 sts. over these sts., and work for 1¼ inches.
First Finger—On 2nd needle, K. first st., place remaining sts. of 2nd needle and all but last st. of 3rd needle on a thread. Cast on 2 sts., K. last st. of 3rd needle. Divide these 20 sts. on 3 needles and work even for 2 inches, K. every 4th and 5th sts. tog. around row; K. 1 row even. K. every 3rd and 4th sts. tog. around row, K. 1 row even. K. 2 sts. tog. around row, K. 1 row even, K. 2 sts. tog. around row, draw yarn thru remaining sts. and fasten firmly.
Second Finger—Pick up 8 sts. from one end of thread, cast on 2 sts., pick up 8 sts. from other end of thread, pick up 2 sts. on side of first finger. Work even for 2¼ inches, finish same as first finger.
Third Finger—Pick up sts. same as second finger and work in same manner as first finger.
Fourth Finger—Pick up remaining sts. from thread, pick up 2 sts. on side of third finger. Work 1¾ inches even, finish same as other fingers.
Thumb—Pick up the 22 sts. of thumb, pick up 4 sts. over the cast on sts. Working on these sts. decrease 1 st. over these 4 sts. every other row 4 times. When work measures 1¾ inches from picked up sts. finish same as other fingers.
Sew to cuffs.
SKIRT: The skirt is made with M. M. No. 4 needles in 6 gores which are as follows: Cast on 72 sts. Decrease 1 st. each side every 16 times, then every 2 inches 4 times, work 1 inch even, decrease 1 st. each side, work 1 inch even, (skirt measures 26 inches). Bind off. Sew seams. Work 2 rows S. C. around bottom of skirt. Work beading at top for elastic.
CAP: With No. 1 Steel Crochet Hook and White Germantown Ch. 122 sts. to measure 22 inches. Join, being careful not to have chain twisted, and work in S. C. for entire cap.
Work across 26 sts. (side piece), 3 S. C. in next st., work across 36 sts. (front), 3 S. C. in next st., work across 26 sts. (side piece), 3 S. C. in next st., work across 30 sts. (back), 3 S. C. in last st. Continue increasing in this manner by working 3 S. C. in the middle st. of the 3 S. C. of row below, in each of the four corners, every row for 2¼ inches. Next row start crown by working around on the back and front sts. only, joining at the corners by working 1 S. C. in the middle st. of corner and next st. in the middle st. of opposite corner (allowing side pieces to fold down). Decrease by skipping 1 st. each side every row for 1½ inches, keeping decreases in an even line up each side, then decrease by skipping 2 sts. each side every row for 2½ inches. Work 1 row even, break yarn and sew in the middle at line of decreases leaving an opening at either side. With Brown silk cord lace side pieces as illustrated.
