PATTERN: (Multiple of 4 plus 1).

Row 1—* P. 4, pass 2nd st. over 3rd and 4th st., repeat from * across row, ending P. 1. (Wrong side of work.)

Row 2—(Right side of work). * P. 1, K. 1 in loop made by passing the st. over, K. 2, repeat from * across row ending P. 1.

Repeat rows 1 and 2, 2 more times.
Row 7—Slip 1, P. 1, across row. P. last st.

Row 8—Purl.

Repeat these 8 rows for pattern.

The entire suit is worked in pattern on M. M. No. 3 needles with white Nub Yarn.

JACKET: Back: Cast on 121 sts. Decrease 1 st. each side every inch 4 times. When work meas­ures 5 inches from start, increase 1 st. each side. Increase 1 st. each side every ½ inch 11 more times (137 sts.). When work measures 13 inches from start bind off 8 sts. each side once, then de­crease 1 st. each side every other row 10 times. When work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 6 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 6 rows and 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the following 4 rows. Bind off remaining sts. for back of neck.

Right Front—Cast on 65 sts. Increase 1 st. at front edge every row 6 times, then every other row 6 times. At the same time, at side edge, de­crease 1 st. every inch 4 times.

At the same time, when work measures 2½ inches from start, working from front edge, work over 10 sts., bind off 6 sts. (buttonhole), work across row. Next row cast on 6 sts. over the bound off sts. Work another buttonhole in this manner on this edge every 2½ inches 4 more times.

At the same time, working first increase at side edge when work measures 5½ inches from start, increase 1 st. at side edge every ½ inch 12 times.

When work measures 13 inches from start, bind off 8 sts. at side edge and 4 sts. at front edge. Next row cast on 4 sts. at front edge. Then de­crease 1 st. at armhole edge every other row 15 times and at front edge, increase 1 st. every 4th row 9 times, then 1 st. every 3rd row 7 times. Bind off 4 sts. from front edge, work ½ inch even, then bind off 4 sts. from front edge at the beginning of every other row 8 times and 5 sts. at same edge 2 times.

At the same time, when work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 6 sts. from armhole edge every other row 6 times and 7 sts. 2 times. All sts. have been worked off.
Left Front—Work to correspond to Right Front, omitting buttonholes.

Sleeves—Cast on 81 sts. and increase 1 st. each side every ½ inch 7 times. When work measures 4 inches from start, bind off 8 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st. each side every other row 18 times, then every row 13 times. Bind off remaining sts.

Collar—Cast on 105 sts. and work ½ inch. Cast on 4 sts. at the end of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every 4th row 4 times. When work measures 2½ inches from start, bind off.

Belt—Cast on 13 sts. and work even for 30 inches. Next row work 5, bind off 3, (eyelet) work 5. Following row cast on 3 sts. over bound off sts. Work another eyelet in same manner 1 inch above first one. When work measures 35 inches from start, decrease 1 st. at the beginning of every row until all sts. are worked off.

Finishing. Turn under at ½ inch hem along both fronts and around lapels. Sew shoulder seams, sew sleeves in place, sew underarm and sleeve seams. Work 1 row S. C. around bottom of jacket and around bottom of sleeves inserting hook in ¼ inch from edge. Turn under a 1 inch hem along cast on edge and side edges of collar. Sew bound off edge of collar to neck. Crochet 5 buttons over button molds.

Large Pockets—Cast on 29 sts. and work even for 3 inches, then decrease 1 st. each side every row 8 times. Bind off remaining sts.

Small Pockets—Cast on 21 sts. and work even for 2½ inches, then decrease 1 st. each side every row 6 times. Bind off remaining sts.

Work 1 row S. C. around all edges of pockets, inserting hook in ¼ inch from edge. Sew pockets in place.

SKIRT: Skirt is made in 2 pieces with side seams.

Front—Cast on 193 sts. and work 3 inches even, then decrease 1 st. each side. Decrease 1 st. each side every inch 19 more times, then every ½ inch 16 times, work 1 inch even, bind off.

Back—Cast on 185 sts. and work same as front.

Sew side seams, work beading at top for elastic, work 1 row S. C. around bottom of skirt.
