GAUGE: 8 sts = 1 inch; 13 rows = 1 inch
SKIRT
Using 29 inch circular needle, cast on 544 sts. Round 1: * K 5, P 13, K 5, P 11, repeat from * to end of round. Repeat this round for 2 inches. On the next round dec 1 st in center of each P 13 panel—16 sts dec. Following ribbing pattern, dec 1 st in center of same panel every 2 inches until piece measures 21 inches and there are 384 sts. On the next round dec in same panels as before. Work even for 1 inch. Work another dec round in same manner. There will now be 1 P st remaining in each dec panel. On the next round K this P st. This will form a panel of 11 K sts. Work even, keeping new pattern, until piece measures 23 inches. Change to 16 inch circular needle and on the next round dec 1 st in center of each K 11 panel. Repeat this dec every 1 inch until piece measures 27 inches and there are 6 K sts in each K panel. Work even for 1 inch. On the next round dec 1 st in center of each P panel and repeat this dec every 1 inch until piece measures 30 inches and there are 8 sts in each P panel. Work even on 224 sts for 1 inch. Bind off all sts.

Repeat these 2 rows dec 1 st each end of needle every ¾ inch 9 times. Work even on 117 sts until piece measures 7 inches. On the next row inc 1 st each end of needle and repeat this inc every 1 inch 6 times more. Work even on 131 sts until piece measures 15½ inches. SHAPE ARMHOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 7 sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row 3 times, ending with a wrong side row.

Continue to work patterns in this way, starting another pattern in the 19th st from each edge on Row 31 and the last pattern in the 8th st from each edge on Row 39. As each pattern is completed, work the sts in the center of yoke in reverse stockinette st. When all patterns are completed, work even in reverse stockinette st until armholes measure 7 inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beg of each of the next 8 rows bind off 9 sts. Bind off remaining 39 sts.
LEFT FRONT: NOTE: Fuchsia pattern is worked on the 13 sts of front border. The first pattern is started on the 5th row in the 7th st from front edge. On Row 7 start pattern in the 11th st from front edge. Work 11 rows even in reverse stockinette st between fuchsia patterns. Cast on 77 sts. Row 1: K 4, * P 8, K 7, repeat from * to last 13 sts, P 13. Row 2: K 13, * P 7, K 8, repeat from * ending P 4. Repeat these 2 rows once more. Keeping ribbing pattern as established, start a fuchsia pattern on front border and at arm edge dec 1 st every ½ inch 14 times. Then inc 1 st at arm edge every ½ inch 14 times. Work even on 77 sts until piece measures 15½ inches. SHAPE ARMHOLE: At arm edge bind off 7 sts twice and dec 1 st at same edge every other row 4 times.
YOKE: Following chart, work yoke sts as indicated in reverse stockinette st and AT THE SAME TIME, work fuchsia pattern until armhole measures 6 inches. SHAPE NECK: At front edge bind off 18 sts. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 5 times. Work even on 36 sts until armhole measures 7¾ inches. SHAPE SHOULDER: At arm edge bind off 9 sts 4 times.
RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond with left front.
SLEEVES: Cast on 61 sts. Row 1: K 4, * P 8, K 7, repeat from * ending P 8, K 4. Row 2: P 4, * K 8, P 7, repeat from * ending K 8, P 4. Repeat these 2 rows for 2 inches. On the next row inc 1 st each end of needle and repeat this inc every 8th row until there are 105 sts. Work even until sleeve measures 18 inches. SHAPE CAP: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 10 sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row for 4½ inches. At the beg of each of the next 6 rows bind off 2 sts. Bind off remaining sts.
COLLAR: Cast on 136 sts. P 1 row, K 1 row. On the next row P 5, inc 5 sts in next st, P to last 6 sts, inc 5 sts in next st, P 5. Continue in stockinette st, working a fuchsia pattern at each edge and AT THE SAME TIME, inc 1 st each end of needle every other row 8 times. Work even at edges and on every 4th row dec 11 sts evenly spaced between patterns until 108 sts remain. Work even until piece measures 3½ inches. Bind off all sts.
FINISHING: Sew underarm, shoulder and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. Work 3 rows s c around bottom of jacket, on right front edge and bottom of sleeves. Work 1 inch s c on left front edge. Sew bound off edge of collar to within ½ inch of each front edge. Work 2 rows s c around collar. Work 1 row s c around top and bottom of skirt. Make a beading on inside waistline of skirt. Block to size. Face each front with ribbon. Close front with snap fasteners. Sew in shoulder pads.
