Sizes:

These instructions are for size eight and one half.

Materials:

Columbia Spanish Knitting Worsted, 4 ounce skeins. 1 skein Khaki, 8978.

Needles:

Columbia Steel Sock Needles, size 13.

Gauge:

8 sts = 1 inch. 11 rows = 1 inch.

Right Glove:

Cast on 64 sts (22 sts on first and 2nd needles, and 20 sts on the 3rd needle). Join and work even in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 6 inches. Change to stockinette st and work even for 2 inches. Now work to last 2 sts on 3rd needle, mark 2nd st from end, then inc in this st, inc in last st on needle. Inc in this marked st and in the last st on needle every 3rd row until there are 22 sts from marked st to end of needle. Place these 22 sts on a st pin, cast on 4 sts over these sts and work even for 2 inches (66 sts on round).

First Finger:

Cast on 2 sts at end of 3rd needle, slip sts of first and 2nd needles on a st pin. Divide the 24 sts on 3 needles. Work even for 1 inch, bind off.

On first finger of Left Glove, after casting on, work even for 2 ½ inches. Next round, k 2 tog around row (12 sts on needle). K 1 round. Next round, k 2 tog around row (6 sts on needle). K 1 round. Weave these remaining 6 sts tog.

Work even on remaining 44 sts (15 sts on each of first and 2nd needles and 14 sts on 3rd needle), for 3 ½ inches. Now k 2 sts tog at beginning and end of each needle. K 1 round. Continue to dec in this manner every other row until 3 sts remain on each of first and 2nd needles, and 2 sts on 3rd needle. Break yarn, leaving a 12 inch strand. With darning needle, weave sts together.

With the 3 needles, pick up the 22 thumb sts, cast on 4 sts and work even for ½ inch, bind off.

On left thumb, pick up 22 thumb sts, pick up 4 sts over cast on sts and work even for 2 ½ inches. Next round, k 2 tog around row (13 sts on needle). K 1 round. Next round k 2 tog around row (7 sts on needle). K 1 round. K 2 tog once then weave remaining 6 sts together.
