Materials for Set

CYNTHIA Bay-Bee Yarn or CYNTHIA Shetland Floss: 4 ozs. Pink No. 358, 1 oz. White No. 300.
One pair bone needles No. 3 (3 MM).
Four double pointed needles No. 2 (2¾ MM).
Bone crochet hook No. 3.
One yard 1-inch satin ribbon.
Three yards ½ inch satin ribbon

Gauge: 7 sts = 1 inch

Jacket

Back: With Pink, cast on 68 sts. 1st Row: K 2, P 2 across row. Repeat from * in each of the following rows. 2nd row: P 1, * K 2, P 2 across row ending with P 1. 3rd Row: P 2, * K 2, P 2 across row ending with K 2. 4th Row: K 1, * P 2, K 2 across row ending with K 1. 5th Row: K 2, P 2 across row. 6th Row: K 1, * P 2, K 2 across row ending with K 1. 7th row: P 2, * K 2, P 2 across row ending with K 2. 8th row: P 1, * K 2, P 2 across row ending with P 1. Repeat these 8 rows once, making 16 rows in all. 17th row: K 2, P 2 across row, drop Pink. 18th row: With White, P across row. 19th row: With White, K across row. 20th row: With Pink, P across row. This completes Pattern and stripes of White. Repeat from beginning until there are 4 stripes of Pattern and 4 stripes of White in all.

Shoulder: Work first 5 rows of pattern. 6th row: K 20 sts in Pattern and slip on thread, bind off next 28 sts, and on remaining 20 sts work the next 6 rows of Pattern, then cast on 20 sts and work the last 6 rows of Pattern (17 rows in all).

Front: Continue working until there are 4 stripes of Pattern and 4 stripes of White. Bind off. Work other shoulder and front to correspond.

Sleeves: With White, cast on 52 sts. P 1 row, K 1 row. With Pink, P 1 row. Work same as Jacket until there are 3 stripes of Pattern and 4 White stripes. With Pink, P 1 row as follows: P 3 sts, then P every 3rd and 4th sts together across row and work cuff on remaining 40 sts.

Cuff: With Pink, work first 8 rows of Pattern. Bind off loosely.

Neck-Band: With White, pick up and K 60 sts on light side of work. P 1 row. Tie in Pink, K 1, * yarn over, K 2 sts together, repeat from * across row. K back. K 2 more rows and bind off loosely. Sew sleeve seams and sew sleeves in position. Sew underarm seams.

Edging: With White, * 1 SC in each of first 3 sts, ch 2 for picot, repeat from * around entire jacket and edge of cuffs. Fasten off. Weave ½ inch satin ribbon through openwork band at neck.

Bonnet

With Pink, cast on 80 sts and work until there are 2 stripes of Pattern and 2 stripes of white. Bind off 26 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows and continue working on the 28 center sts until there are 2 stripes of Pattern and 2 stripes of white. Bind off loosely.

Border: With Pink and right side of work toward you, pick up 76 sts across front of Bonnet and work 1 stripe of Pattern. Bind off loosely.

With Pink and wrong side of work toward you, pick up 62 sts across bottom of bonnet. P 1 row. Next row: K 1, * yarn over, K 2 together, repeat from * across row. K back. K 5 more rows and bind off loosely. With White, crochet edging around entire bonnet as on Jacket. Weave ½ inch satin ribbon through openwork band at bot­tom of bonnet. Make rosettes and attach to each side.
