REQUIREMENTS:
BULKY KNIT YARN
SIZES: Small (Medium - Large)
11 ozs. (12 ozs. - 13 ozs.) Black
7 ozs. ( 8 ozs. - 9 ozs.) White
5 ozs. ( 6 ozs. - 7 ozs.) Grey
(Other Color Combinations as desired)
1 pair Size No. 9 Aluminum knitting needles
1 pair Size No. 5 Aluminum knitting needles
The entire sweater is worked in K1, P1 ribbing.
BACK: With No. 9 needles starting at side seam, cast on loosely 78 sts with White. Work 6 (7-8) rows. Break yarn.
Fasten Black yarn and work 11 (12-13) rows. Break yarn.
Work 11 (12-13) rows Grey. Break yarn.
Work 11 (12-13) rows White. Break yarn.
Work 11 (12-13) rows Black. Break yarn.
Work 11 (12-13) rows White. Break yarn.
Work 11 (12-13) rows Grey. Break yarn.
Work 11 (12-13) rows Black.
Work 6 (7-8) rows White.
Bind off very loosely.
With black and No. 5 needles, pick up 1 st in each row along bottom of piece and work 14 rows. Bind off loosely.
LEFT FRONT: With No. 9 needles and White yarn, cast on 78 sts and starting at the side seam work 6 (7-8) rows.
Work 11 (12-13) rows Black.
Work 11 (12-13) rows Grey.
Work 3 (4-5) rows White.
Begin short rows. Next row: Work to within 8 sts of end of row (top of sweater) turn, slip 1, finish row.
Next row: Work to within 8 sts of last short row, turn, slip 1, finish row.
Next row: Work to within 8 sts of last short row, turn, slip 1, finish row.
Work 2 more rows.
Change to No. 5 needles and Black and work 14 rows. Bind off loosely.
Pick up 1 st in each row along bottom of front and work with No. 5 needles 14 rows. Bind off loosely.
SLEEVES: With No. 5 needles and Black cast on 50 sts. Work 14 rows.
Change to No. 9 needles and work 11 (12-13) rows White increase 1 st each end of needle every other row 8 times.
Work 11 (12-13) rows Grey.
Work 11 (12-13) rows Black.
Work 6 (7-8) rows White.
Bind off loosely.
On back of neck piece pick up 24 (26-28) sts (rows) with No. 5 needles and work 14 rows. Bind off.
Right front — same as left front. Pattern is reversible.
Block each piece separately with damp cloth. Assemble sweater.
